Hi. I'm having pains around the top of my stomach. The pain gets worse as I take a deep breath in. My stomach is also very hard at the minute and it usually isn't.

Braxton hicks?

Spargle · 19/02/2019 19:09

Top of the stomach implies useful contractions, I think, whereas contractions lower down are less good for getting the baby out. Phone your pregnancy triage people straight away! It’s probably going to be fine, but you need someone who knows what they are talking about to assess you.

Thanks for the reply's really appreciate it. I don't think they are contractions as the pain isn't going away. It's a constant pain xx

Could still be labour. Is your bag packed?

Sunshinegirl82 · 19/02/2019 20:26

Do you have a headache? Or any swelling? Upper abdominal pain can be a symptom of pre eclampsia. I would call triage and see what they say, it's always better to err on the side of caution and get checked out.

mumm321 · 19/02/2019 21:04

@Sunshinegirl82 my head isn't sore. But I do have swelling. My ankles my face and wrists are swollen I rung the midwife and she said that swellen is normal and not to worry

Hmm, I'd be calling back and saying you're concerned about PE due to swelling and pain. How are baby's movements? How has your BP been up till now? (Not that this necessarily means much, BP can spike very quickly)
