Im 18+5 and still have awful morning sickness. Totally off my food now and have lost over a stone.
Anyone else have this problem or know of something i could eat other than plain chicken and green vegetables?

Hi OP

Have you spoke to your GP or midwife around your sickness? Your GP may be able to provide you with medication as that’s quite a significant amount of weight to loose. I lost nearly 9 pounds in 4 weeks and was on medication (if it stayed down) so I can really relate to how rubbish you’ll feel.

I think just sticking to plainish foods help I.e rice, pasta and bread. Are food smells bothering you too? If so could be worth sticking to cold foods, I found cheese sandwiches helpful. I also lived off cup a soups and a slice of dry brown bread, ice lollies and went with what I craved. I didn’t have the best diet but try not to worry as your LO will take what is needed from you anyway.

Peppermint and mints in general helped me too. Although I would definitely consider making a GP appt. hope you feel better soon

Please speak to your GP or midwife!
I had hyperemesis with my first pregnancy, and pretty horrendous but not quite as bad as hyperemesis sickness in my second pregnancy, and have it again third time around. There’s some amazing drugs out there that can help Smile
I’m personally taking one called Cyclizine, which stops the vomiting and takes away a lot of the nausea. I still get waves of feeling sick, but it’s half as much as before and I haven’t vomited at all since starting it 2 weeks ago.

Plain beige food all the way for me plus ice and iced drinks. Do speak to your GP/midwife as there is help available but be warned some of them aren’t particularly helpful.

I agree you should talk to your GP, I’m on cyclizine and it’s a god send. But in terms of food, different things worked for me at different times (there was a week where a jacket potato smothered in cheese and butter was all that my nausea could stomach, then the week after just the thought of a jacket potato made me feel sick). So, some of the things that helped me were
Snacking on raisins - sometimes I’d literally only be able to manage one, but I’d keep a bag near me and snack when I could, think it helped keep my blood sugar up a bit
Granny Smith apples - the sour juice made my mouth feel so much fresher and it seemed to settle my stomach
Most of the time I could manage smoothies if I drank them slowly
Plain, salty things like popcorn and crisps but in moderation or they made me feel sick too.
Ice cold water always helped, sometimes resorted to sucking on ice cubes
Ice lollies
Ginger biscuits, but that’s so standard I’m sure you’ve tried it.
Dry cornflakes, again just slowly snacked on rather than having any substantial amount in one go.
Again, probably something that you’ve tried but take any prenatal vitamins before bed in case they’re increasing your nausea.
Basically I tried to graze slowly on dry, plain starchy stuff to get something in my stomach, and have some sort of fruit as well but there were times it took me a whole day to finish an apple so I just slowly and steadily tried to make sure I had something in my stomach all day.
