BV during pregnancy

Does anyone know how to prevent it?

During my pregnancy with DS I kept getting it all the bloomin time. I'd get the stuff to clear it but it be back again in a couple of weeks and it's bloomin pricey at £12 each time (GP wouldn't prescribe it as can be bought over the counter).

I didn't realise at the time but BV can cause complications and I'm wondering now if that's why my waters broke pre term and DS came early?

Anyway, I've got symptoms of BV again during this pregnancy (9+3) and really want to curb it's reappearance after it clears up (using the cream stuff tonight).

Has anyone else experienced constant BV too during pregnancy?

Get anti buotucs at the docs, practical stuff too, take showers not baths, cotton underwear etc xx

Ah showers not baths, that could be it. I have a bath about 3 times a week when pregnant as it helps me relax!

Balance-activ gel is safe in pregnancy and I think you can use it once a week as a preventative.

I know, I have a bath literally every day!
If you really can’t give it up try and have one without bubbles and deffo no bath bombs, they are worst for it!

What helped me is to switch to bath salts or bath oil or as a real treat I have an Elemis bath milk, they are all better!

I literally only use Sanex in them as I have sensitive skin so never have bath bombs. Guess it could be the warm water getting up there though?

Yeah I think so.
The nurse said anything bubbly is a trigger and baths in general, mine seems to be ok in baths if I’m careful and don’t put products in, switching to showers even if you just reduce the amount of baths probably will help, even with sanex it still could mess with the ph I guess??

I have bv and was prescribed dalacin cream 2% but I hate having to put the little applicator full of cream up there its so discomforting - I've had bv a couple of times during my pregnancy. Im 37 weeks gone. Doctors recommend not to put anything in your bath like bubble bath etc as that could aggravate the bv further.

Have you considered taking a decent probiotic? Theoretically, that should help to populate the area with good bacteria which out-compete the bad ones. In practice I have no idea if it actually works, but it might be worth a try...
