Morning, just looking for advice . I have seen the midwife once at 10 weeks. I’m 15 weeks now. This is our first but I’m 37 and have had three previous miscarriages. I have spent a night in a and e with a threatened miscarriage and tried contacting her via the number she gave me ( call, text) but have heard nothing back.

I also have fibroids and a bladder illness which I need to take high dose antibiotics for and again I tried making contact to check the antibiotics were pregnancy safe ones ( it can change with trimester). There are no more midwife appointments arranged. I also don’t know the results of the initial blood work. Is this all normal ? Am I just freaking out because it’s my first and I’m having a tough time with bladder pain and threatened miscarriage? Thanks :)

You should have an appointment next week (16 weeks). If you can’t get hold of her, do you know what team she is under? My community midwife comes under the hospital team so if ever I can’t reach her she has given me the number of the hospital birth centre as an alternative contact.

I’ve been told to call after my 12w scan to arrange a 16w midwife appointment, and my pack from booking in has a flowchart in it with roughly when the other appointments should be - do you have anything like that?

Sorry to hear you’re having such a tough time, it sounds odd that you’ve not had any contact despite reaching out to them can you call the head office for your area to chase up?

That seems strange. If there are no concerns with bloods then they wouldn't say anything. They only discuss if there were issues.
Not sure how the miscarriages would impact any appointments. People I know who've suffered multiple MC have not had any additional appointments unless it has been determined that they were due to medical issues that could cause issues during pregnancy.

First baby you should have the following and with mine I was told the next appointment at the end of each one.

8-12 weeks booking
16 weeks
25 weeks (with your first)
28 weeks
31 weeks
34 weeks
36 weeks
38 weeks
40 weeks
41 weeks

I'd contact the midwife team and check up. You should be having an appointment in a week and you should be able to ask them about any concerns not just your specific midwife.

My 15wk appointment was booked at my booking in and I was told I’d get blood results at that unless there was anything serious, then they’d contact earlier.
Sorry to hear about your loses, no wonder you are worried! I’d try calling the hospital midwife team as well as community, how frustrating!

@Jmb3036 you should have a minimum of 10 scheduled antenatal appointments (9 if booking and 12 week scan done together) for a 1st pregnancy. If for any reason you are high risk you may have more depending on the risk.

Your next one should be 16 weeks.

You should have one at 16 weeks. Questions about meds should be put to whoever prescribed them really. I don’t think miscarriages lead to extra midwife appointments because (as harsh as it is) they can’t really do anything. If you were being monitored due to recurrent miscarriages it would be by a consultant.

Do you have your notes? Mine had a chart at the front of all the appointments you should have and what they check at each one.

SnailorSwift · 16/02/2019 10:13

Sorry just re-read, sorry about your losses Thanks Im assuming you didn't get as far as this in previous pregnancies if you have never had the care pathway discussed?

Did you get given notes at your first appointment? These should have a schedule of appointments in the front.

Have you had '12 week' dating scan? Sorry wasn't sure from your OP.

From the details you have given re: meds and fibroids you may actually need shared care with a consultant, did the midwife say if you would get any consultant appointments?
