Comfortable non-wired bras for norks on the large side

hi all.

I went into M and S on the weekend to get fitted for a bra as I have had a bit of a boob explosion lately.

The lovely fitting lady went and fetched sooooo many different kinds of unwired bras, lots of which were called maternity bras but in the end, nothing really gave me any kind of decent support except for their total support range which is... well... quite extensive in its coverage and not the most glamorous style in the world.

Now, I've always been reasonably large (DD) and now I am wearing a 36F... surely there are other bras out there that have got good quality scaffolding but perhaps cover up a bit less of my chest and look less... practical?

Has anyone been in a similar situation and have recommendation?

thanks in advance for your help!

ProjectIcarus · 05/07/2007 00:50

I went from a 32D to a 36F by about 8 weeks and have loved the elle mcpherson maternelle bras - the one that is almost like a top, not the lacy one. i have worn my 2 for the last 7 months and they are still going strong, so well worth the cash outlay - comfy, supportive and quite attractive (as much as you can get for a large, non-wired maternity bra!).

I've tried others along the way, but these have been by far my best

£100

I gave my old maternity bras to a mumsnetter. Bet she was really Dave. 34L as well.

go to bravissimo...they always have all sizes in stock......unlike debenhams where you have to hunt through the rails loooking for your size.

the freya nursing bra is lovely and royce jasmine are functional and supportive but not as horrendous as any of the m and s efforts. that's about the limit for me as i need an H cup.

figleaves.com do some nice looking ones too

mothercare and m&s maternity bras just aren't supportive enuogh for large boobs.

dressedupnowheretogo · 05/07/2007 10:58

i too was 1 34l i loved my royce jasmine

RGPargy · 05/07/2007 12:07

I want somewhere that does nice 40D* bras - cant find alot online!

  • that is an estimate, i haven't been measured for years and am too embarrassed coz of size of large norks and size of fat ass.
suwoo · 05/07/2007 12:37

They don't measure your arse though . Bravissimo girls are very nice and make you feel really comfortable, no measure used, all done by sight.

RGPargy · 05/07/2007 13:08

I dont think Bravissimo go up to my size tho.

winestein · 05/07/2007 13:22

Ohhhhhhh yes they do!

Get yourself to a Bravissimo shop and get yourself properly fitted. You will leave with the best fitting bra you can imagine.

The bra I am wearing now is a Bravissimo one - 34 K

Coo-eee! Da-ave!

rosmerta · 05/07/2007 13:26

Another fan of Bravissimo here, haven't worn any other bras since I first went there about 10yrs ago!

& I can't remember what size they go up to but I'm 100% certain they'll have one for you RG!

rosmerta · 05/07/2007 13:26

oops, x-post!

Tutter · 05/07/2007 13:31

lol

can't help re large norks as am sadly lacking there (even at 37 weeks pg) (dave would be prepared to fork out, ooh, £2.50, maybe)

but if you are after shape and support, wanted to point out that anita make underwired maternity and nursing bras - they are wonderful

this is what i've been wearting all through pregnancy and will wear while bfing

Piffle · 05/07/2007 13:35

freya rosalie
fab bra and I'm a GG cup

Chattyhan · 05/07/2007 13:50

I'm another pregnant m&s bra wearer who is uncomfortable and not supported. i also had a post op bra from them which did fit and support well but you could see it above the neckline of all my clothes! So this is my current issue - supportive, comfy, fairly low cut bra please! Oh and relatively attractive looking! Do any of the suggested ones fit my criteria?

TheLadyEvenstar · 05/07/2007 16:59

lmao.....

Dave 40d do you???? well thats pre-bump
how about 42d dave??
and I'll accept £50 per bra roflmao thats eurodisney sorted for next year

dressedupnowheretogo · 05/07/2007 17:00

TheLadyEvenstar · 05/07/2007 17:02
