Ok. My car doesn't have Isofix. I keep reading how isofix car seats are ultimately safer and how they are probably going to phase out belted car seats soon...Is this just marketing or worth considering? I do have savings to change my car if needed.

Belted car seats are perfectly safe provided they are fitted correctly. This is why isofix is considered safer - because they are harder to fit wrong. I recommend going to a car seat specialist store if there is one local to you where they can advise and show you how to fit your chosen seat.

Isofix is no safer than a properly belted in car seat

My car didn't have isofix when I had my dd.
I bought a belted car seat base ... which was held in place by the seatbelt and then the car seat clipped onto the base.
Was really hand my until she came out of the group 0 car seat.

Isofix is considered safer but I couldn't afford to replace my car when I had dd but the belted Isofix base was a good buy

Belted is actually a lot easier if you travel, use taxis or need to transfer the seat between cars. I ended up buying a second non-isofix infant carrier for convenience and next time around I won’t bother with isofix all. As mentioned above belted is just as safe if properly fitted and going to a specialist to ensure you know how to fit it correctly is very good advice. Infant carriers are pretty simple though, especially compared to the huge toddler seats.

Isofix with infant carriers is lots more convenient but as they’ll only be in them for a year, it would be quite a big expense to change your car for a relatively short-term benefit. Once you’re in the toddler seats, most people have them in the car all the time so belted v isofix becomes less of an issue in terms of convenience.
