Reduced movement - what to do?

I’m 21 and a half weeks and up until yesterday had very definite movements that you could feel from the inside and out. There wasn’t much movement yesterday but I googled it and it seemed fairly common so I’ve tried not to panic, however there’s still nothing this morning. I’m with West Middlesex hospital and I’ve called the 24 hour triage and the mat unit and they both just ring out and cut off - who else can I call?

I've been told not to expect to feel anything till 24 weeks & that a pattern won't emerge till further down the line. But if your concerned I'd keep trying the number or call your gp for advice on what to do

@fortheloveofdoughnuts - thanks, that’s what I keep telling myself! It’s such a dramatic contrast though I can’t help but panic a little bit...

As PP poster said, I called concerned at 25 weeks concerned about reduced movements and was told they wouldn't expect a pattern till 28 weeks.

They advised lie on my left side and drink something cold/Have sugary snack. Hard not to panic though

Hi Dusty

At 21 weeks it's still early for movement but the official advice is that if you are worried for any reason at all then please call your midwife or maternity unit. It's much better you get checked out and everything is fine.
In the meantime try drinking something cold and lying on your side. The Kicks Count website is a very helpful guide

I found drinking something cold got my bean wiggling more than a sugary snack did. The triage near us suggests a pint or two of cold water and then two hours on your left side in a dark room 😊 they said in that time ideally you would feel ten movements, but as others have said, your baby is still quite tiny! I know it's hard, but try not to worry, baby is probably just lying funny
Fingers crossed for you x

Thanks all! I went in to the hospital and they were able to find the heartbeat so all is ok. It was just so bizarre to have a full day of nothing after four weeks of v full on wriggling! Thank you for all the reassurance x

Remember that this early in pregnancy your baby is actually still very small so if he/she has moved position a bit you might stop feeling movements for a while. I didn’t feel anything at all until nearly 24 weeks then my bump popped out and she started turning somersaults.
