Hi girls
Not sure how everyone else coped at this stage. This is my first time being pregnant and I can honestly say I never expected to feel this sick. I haven't vomited once which makes me feel stupid for feeling so down but I am constantly feeling soooooo nauseous that even leaving the house for an hour is hard work. I've put on so much weight because the only time the nausea lifts is when I eat something. I just dont know what to do or what helps I've tried all the snacks that are recommended and ive tried all the tips just want to feel normal for even some part of the day :( sorry for the long rant just with so few people even knowing I'm pregnant its hard finding anyone that understands right now xxx

I tend to vomit every morning, ok throughout the day then after 6pm I'm just a big nauseous mess.

I like to sip really cold water, ice lollies and that's all I can stomach when Im feeling nauseous. I can't bare to think about eating anything once it kicks in. I'm 10+3 now and it's my third pregnancy.

I've always suffered the "morning sickness" with the two previous but the evening nausea is new, and without a doubt 10x worse.

Good Luck. It will pass (hard to say when as it varies person to person) but things to tend to get a bit brighter in the second trimester.

homegrownmumma · 13/02/2019 15:04

I know how you feel , it's the worst feeling isn't it ? The only thing that would ease my nausea was lots of salt and vinegar on chips , gained a stone in the first 3 months !
It will get better though , mine lasted until around 12 weeks and then came back around 33 weeks to 36 weeks

FrancesV83 · 13/02/2019 15:05

I feel your pain OP! I haven’t been sick at all so far this pregnancy but I feel constantly like I want to gag. Eating is the only thing that makes me feel better. I’m not worrying about how much I’m eating at the moment as it’ll settle down before long.
I’m 11 weeks today so hopefully I’ll be feeling better soon!
I hope your nausea passes soon.

Bigonesmallone3 · 13/02/2019 15:13

It'll pass, I'm now 22 weeks with my third and this was the hardest first trimester..
All sickness stopped at around 17 weeks..

It's shit! But congratulations..

dobbysmum · 13/02/2019 15:13

Feel your pain. In 33 weeks and have sickness all the way through, the worst is when you feel sick but nothing will come up because at least then you feel.better after.
Only thing that helped when I felt nauseous was sucking ginger biscuits.

My neighbour also gave me some ginger tea but it was so disgusting it made me gag.

At 9 weeks I went through about 5 days of throwing up morning noon and night and horrible dry heaving the minute I sat up in bed. It was 5 days of hell. But now at 11weeks 5 days it’s noticeably eased off and I have a day with nausea or vomiting every 3 days or so. Hoping that goes soon too. You’re at the peak so it should ease off soon. If it’s truly horrible phone your midwife or see the gp as there are medications you can take.

This might sound silly but smells would set me off. I had to plug my nose when around food. Iced water helped me just sipping it. I should have bought shares in Jacobs cream crackers those with water were the only things that helped. Keep nibbles by the bed, eat just before you go to sleep and have a nibble in the morning before you get up.

My friend swore by lucozade. She would swig it on the school run to stop her heaves.

It is supposed to be a sign of a good healthy pregnancy and a strong baby because your hormone levels are so high, hence the sickness.

CatSmize · 13/02/2019 16:23

I am 8+3 and feel exactly the same as you. I follow all the tips, take anti-sickness pills every day but, although I haven't vomited, I have constant nausea that means that some days I can't get out of bed. I haven't worked for 4 days which is unpaid as I'm self-employed. I've made an appointment with the doctor tomorrow to ask to be signed off so at least I'll be able to claim some kind of sick leave. I feel terrible letting my clients down though. They probably think I'm a total flake...

I felt so bad at first, then had 10 blissful days feeling nearly normal but now it's back with a vengeance. I've been in tears all afternoon worried the doctor won't sign me off Sad Also, it sounds silly but I get so frustrated about all the lovely, fresh fruit and veg I have in the fridge that ends up going off because I can't face cooking and my DH can't boil an egg. I want to eat so healthily but end up just eating crap that doesn't need cooking.

CatSmize · 13/02/2019 16:26

On the plus side, I haven't had mood swings (yet)! Compared to how much I normally suffer with PMDD, without periods I feel like a Buddhist monk!

BillyAndTheSillies · 13/02/2019 16:48

I'm 5+2 and the nausea is relentless at the moment. Sometimes I wish I could just be sick and get it over and done with. Had the same with DC1 until about 18 weeks.
I'm trying my hardest not to just eat and eat like I did last time. So far, I've found sparkling water has helped.

Gobletoffire · 13/02/2019 16:58

If it helps at all, I found that my nausea peaked at around 9 weeks and then slowly started to tail off, so this might be the worst it’s going to get and you might feel better soon. Obviously it’s not the same for everyone but I do think week 9 tends to be torture for a lot of people! Ice pops helped me a lot. X

Lisaawilson · 13/02/2019 18:08

Thanks so much for your advice everyone. Ice lollies and ice water isn't something I've tried yet so il definitely give that a go! I feel so silly moaning to friends that have children as they seemed to cope relatively well throughout their pregnancies:( but hopefully this is the peak and things will start to settle! I'm off on annual leave for another week so thankful i'm not taking time of work..yet!
I am sooo much more understanding of what pregnancy really entails I never knew how tough it really could be! Xx

I'm 7 weeks and mine nausea is 24.7. My job is so active i generally have no energy at all .... my friend gave me a tip to eat plain biscuits before getting out of bed that help with the morning routine. As for the rest cold drinks and fruit seem to be helping at the moment... hope it doesn't last the whole time

SSRainbow · 13/02/2019 19:00

I remember bursting in to tears one morning in the car with my workmate, I was nine weeks with my first pregnancy and just didn’t think I could cope any longer! You’ll get through it, and forget how bad it was... which is probably why I’m not suffering morning sickness with my third! The only thing that helped me was sleeping as much as possible, resting when you can and eating, mostly cheese based foods, things in cheese sauce and cheese on toast ☺️

Fletche · 13/02/2019 19:15

I'm 10 weeks and have gained 9lb due to tiredness and nausea. It's nice to know I'm not alone, although I'm sorry to hear you're all suffering!

I find its much worse if I'm tired or I'm anywhere close to hungry. So I try to make sure I get enough sleep, and keep a epic stash of snacks to hand. It's been hard eating heathily, and I do feel bad about this. Hopefully it will pass soon.

Hope yours passes soon! x

DustyDoorframes · 13/02/2019 20:10

Urgh, I'm on my third, feeling grimmer each time. I was pretty much fine with my first! Got a lot more rest then... I'm 7 weeks now and wondering how the heck I'll make it through the next few weeks!!!

SSRainbow · 14/02/2019 17:42

Third here too and I definitely agree grimmer each time... 22 weeks this time and was still feeling rough as hell

DustyDoorframes · 14/02/2019 19:37

Oh god @SSRainbow don't say that! I am going to intentionally misread that as 12 weeks... Thanks

soundsystem · 14/02/2019 20:03

This is me at the moment as well, so I feel your pain.

I'm just accepting that the only thing that fixes it is eating, and will accept being slightly fatter to feel a bit better.

Most people around me already know, though, because I'm not generally known for throwing up constantly/eating donuts for breakfast/ randomly bursting into tears so it's fairly obvious!
