Hi everyone.
I am 23 weeks and up until 2 days ago the baby was icing and kicking a lot. I have been traveling in the last 48 hours. I am currently on holiday in Tenerife. Am going to ring the midwife
today, but can really do with some positive stories. I am 41 and first baby. All scans have been fine. Low placenta and fibroids but nothing to worry too much about. I have felt the baby kick, but not as much. I have got an insurance so wonder if I should pop over to the local hospital. Am very worried. I hope it's just my anxiety. Thanks in advance.

I had this a couple of weeks ago when I was 23 weeks something. Phoned the midwife unit and they told me they weren’t concerned about movements at this stage and to drink a cold drink then lie on my left side for 2 hours in the dark (no phones etc) and then to phone back if still concerned .

It’s an awful worry but baby is probably just having a quiet day or has move somewhere you can’t feel them but would definitely phone if you are still worried!

Also just to add if my little guys go quiet, I tend to feel him more laying on my back after eating something (he’s had me worried a few times since!)

As PP say lie in your left side in a dark quiet room and drink something cold and high in sugar! Then count movements till your satisfied, may be more a case if you have been busy and not noticed the movements as much as you usually would! X

I wouldn't worry. UK hospitals don't monitor for reduced movements before 28 weeks, precisely because movements are not always detectable before that stage. Your baby might be moving plenty, but you just can't feel it always because the baby is still relatively small.

I have recently had my third baby and although I felt movements from around 15 weeks on, I couldn't say that I could detect a pattern of at least one movement session every 2 hours (which is what they say is necessary in order to determine whether movements have decreased) before around 30 weeks.

Enjoy the rest of your holiday!

Cold drink chocolate but I would also go to hospital
Tenerife is bound to have equipment to monitor and you can get reassurance

At this early stage it’s quite possible that your baby has just shifted into a different position where it’s harder to feel the movements. As PP have said, a regular pattern of movement is not expected until around 27-28 weeks.

Thank you all very much ladies.
You were right. He must have had a quite time.
He made "appearance" this morning and was kicking quite a lot. It's just nice to know other people have similar worries and I am not being over the top!
Thank you so much.
I will definitely try the lying on my left with a cold sugary drink. I love feeling him moving about.
I had no idea pregnancy can bring so many worries. Someone told me: a woman becomes a mother when she conceives, whereas a man becomes a father when te baby is born. I wonder if that is true.
