Hi, I’m 23yrs Old. This will be my first baby.
I’m hoping someone will see this post and maybe have some advice for some reassurance.

On the 5th feb I had my 13+3 ultrasound scan. During the scan I asked the lady if everything looked ‘normal’ and healthy as she was measuring baby’s neck. She said everything looks healthy and fine.

Today 11th I received a phone call from the midwife explaining that my blood test results came back and from looking at the meausurements of baby’s NT: 2.2mm baby is at risk of of having Down syndrome. Honestly just hearing this was a shock to me and although she said the chances are 1:130 I’m still very worried and surprised.

I guess this post is to see whether anyone else around the same age group or same NT measurements has been through anything similar and if so how was it for you (if you don’t mind sharing). Thank you

Very sorry you received this news and the stress you will be feeling. 2.2 isn’t high as far as I’m aware so that suggests they are basing the risk on your blood work.

I had an NT measurement of 4.7, I was 28 and given 1:85 chance. We had CVS to confirm and results were all clear. I’m holding my perfect little boy now.

You can take the harmony blood test which is much more accurate though sadly I think you need to pay for it.... or.... think of your risk as 0.7% — put like this it sounds very low.

Wishing you all the best 💐

Hi OP. Firstly big hugs as I know how stressful this is.
2.2mm actually really isn't high - over 3.5mm is concerning. There might be something in youe bloods that flagged it (low PAPP A is the common one from my googling! And in my case).

Ours was 2.9mm which we were told was on the high end of normal and therefore we were 1 in 85 chance of DS. I am 25, first baby.
I did not want amnio or the other one - nothing that carried a MC risk. We opted for NIPT. It cost us £250. The report came back as low risk (1 in 10,000) of DS which is as good as the all clear on a 99% accurate test.

Thank you both so much for taking the time to respond to my post, I really do appreciate it.
I have been stressing out about it but you both have made me feel more at ease.

I’m glad to hear all went well for you your babies :,)

Googling reasons for a low PAPP A and measurements of the baby’s neck had just left me with even more questions.

Most likely I will go ahead with the harmony test.
Once again thank you! Smile
