Hi,

My husband and I are wanting to start a family soon however I have hypermobility syndrome and fibromyalgia.
I have been seen by rheumatology and they have warned me pregnancy will be difficult and I am at risk of SPD and joint dislocations.

I am just wondering what to expect, if there is anything I can do in advance etc? I also wondered if a c-section would be recommended- I've no clue really.

Has anyone had any experience of this or advice?

TIA.

Not much to do in advance... spd is awful. I can barely move. Rest rest and more rest is the only thing for it. Crutches when you can't walk easily. Wheelchair if/ when you can't beat weight.

People have various success with: physio, osteopaths and chiropractors. I'd advise you to look at the pelvic partnership website to see a local recommended practitioner in the earliest onset of any symptoms (I've had symptoms from 11 weeks and am now just over 36 weeks - almost done!!!!).

I have hypermobility syndrome and I've had 5 dc. There isn't really anything you can do anything in advance. There are a lot of complications that can happen in pregnancy when you have hypermobility syndrome and I've had a few of them. I would try and find a Dr who knows about hypermobility in pregnancy again my experience a lot of them don't.
