I haven't been able to make an appointment with my GP and don't have my booking appointment with my midwife until Thursday,
but, I have been prescribed 4 puffs daily of Fostair 100/6 - I've been on that same dose for over seven months. I am 9+4 today.
Just double checking that I'm allowed to continue with this prescription? My asthma is probably under the best control it's been for years (as in haven't had to use my rescue inhaler since starting this regime), so I would love to continue usage.
Just curious as to what other mothers to be with asthma have been doing? I will most definitely ask my midwife on Thursday and she what she advises.

Can you ring your drs surgery and asked to speak with a dr? That’s what I had to do when I found out I was pregnant. Or ask a pharmacist?

I was told that I had to use my inhalers as normal as the risks of untreated asthma were more dangerous than the inhalers...
However although my asthma worsened at the beginning of the pregnancy I’ve only ever needed the blue reliever inhaler.

Please ring your dr or pharmacist to double check.

Hi OP. When I found out I was pregnant I had a telephone appointment with my doctors who went through my prescriptions with me and told me what I can and can’t still take. My pink inhalers (fostair) were time to carry on taking in pregnancy, I have two puffs in a morning and two at night. My asthma has actually been fine during pregnancy but now I’ve got a big bump I do find myself getting breathless so I’d say it’s very important for me to keep taking it personally. X

General advice I got was to keep taking my inhalers as usual, as risk of untreated asthma is worse, but it’s worth checking with both your midwife and your usual asthma nurse/GP.

I’ve also had to have a short course of steroid tablets for the first time this year, when a mega cold kicked my asthma into overdrive around 20 weeks. All seems fine again now touch wood, so have stepped back down to my usual small inhaler dose after advice from my asthma nurse.

This is exactly what I was told too. I only need my preventers at certain times of the year but did take them through some of my pregnancy with no problems. Definitely speak to a pharmacist if you can't get hold of your asthma team.

You need to speak to your GP or a pharmacist, although you might be able to find something yourself by looking at the BNF online (or brochure that came with your inhalers).

I take seretide and ventolin and was told to keep taking my medication but I found pregnancy was brilliant for my asthma, for 9 months I was virtually asymptomatic.
