Hi
I’m just looking to get some advice from anyone who’s been in the same situation?? I’m currently 37 weeks pregnant with my first child, all the way through my pregnancy I’ve been certain to have a water birth but baby still has not turned head down 😥 I went for a scan just a couple of days ago where they said he’s extended breech so I’ve been told I can’t even have an EVC to attempt to turn him to still be hopeful of a water birth ☹️ The only option for me is to have a planned C section, has this happened to anyone else? Does anybody have any advice on what I can do to try and encourage baby to turn at this stage? TIA

Look up the Spinning Babies website lots of tips and advice. Reflexology acupuncture and an Oestopath can all help baby to turn too. Good luck!!

Have you come across the Spinning Babies page? They have lots of exercises you can try to encourage babies to turn. Not sure on difference between breech and extended breech but I’d give Spinning Babies a look. May be worth trying at this stage.

If baby doesn’t turn and you have the c-section don’t feel badly about it. To be honest there are loads of reasons why you might not get your waterbirth on the day. I possible breech which turned out not to be but even though I started in the lovely midwife led birthing unit (with the pool running for me) but ended up in theatre with an emergency c-section delivery. But honesty it was fine, I had a positive birth experience and good recovery.

This exact thing happened to me with my baby. I had planned to have a waterbirth, had read all about hypnobirthing etc. My baby remained breech despite me doing exercises from the spinning baby website. In the end I went with a planned C section. I don't have any advice on how to get your baby to turn but I wanted to say that in retrospect I am so glad I had the planned section. It was a beautiful, emotional, happy experience and I feel like my baby did me a massive favour by staying breech. The recovery was fine, breastfeeding went well and we had no issues bonding (all things I had worried about). I hope you do get the birth you want, but if you do end up with a c section it will still be a monumental and life changing experience! Good luck.

I haven't got any advice on turning your baby but I'd say that having a baby is probably easier if you focus on everyone being safe and healthy rather than one type of birth. No birth is better than another as long as everyone is safe and looked after.
You might also find, should the baby turn, that you get into a birthing pool and hate it. With DD I had to get straight out as it made me feel wildly sick, despite the fact I usually love the water!Confused
