Should I expect induction/section?

FTM, due in a few weeks. I've been under consultant care since the beginning due to a thyroid issue, which I've been taking medication for all the way through. After my most recent bloods though, my thyroid is still not under control and my medication has been upped for a second time, and they have discovered than I am anaemic.

I realise no one can say for sure that I'll be induced or offered a section, but as no one from the hospital nor my midwife has mentioned this I am wondering if anyone's got any experience? I am seeing my midwife later this week so I can ask then, but I am sure you can appreciate that I am worried a little bit now.

To be honest, I don't mind induction or a section, whatever is going to be safest for baby is fine, I just would like to at least try to get my head around what might happen.

Thanks a lot - hope this post makes some sort of sense!

I imagine in you are due in a few weeks, and it's not been mentioned at all, the answer is probably no, unless you go overdue.

Not sure on the specifics involved with thyroid issues, is it likely to cause complications for you or the baby during labour?

It differs often, from trust to trust, so what happens in one hospital may be slightly different from another, but for us, when we had complications arise in pregnancy, it was discussed well in advance, and the plan though ever changing, was discussed many times over the last month of so.

Your best option is to speak to your consultant, the MW will probably not have the answers, unless she works in the clinic you go to for your thyroid issues.

I think with thyroid issues (I've had past thyroid cancer and currently take thyroxine) they induce you earlier if you go overdue and you won't go the 2 weeks that's normally suggested.

So hard to get those thyroid levels right. I've been trying to get my levels good for years, Then I went and got pregnant and really put a spanner in the works.

Good luck OP Smile
