EdieMcredie · 04/07/2007 12:34

Dawn2820 · 04/07/2007 12:44

CaraLondon · 04/07/2007 12:52

mother2b - they're pracice contractions - they don't hurt - mine started at 36 weeks.

mother2b · 04/07/2007 13:14

oh

thank god for you guys, you've helped so much and there are so many things i didnt know about which i would have been 'what the feck' but i can prepared now

MrsCodger · 04/07/2007 13:19

Mother2b, if you're in the UK and it's your first baby you should have been given The Pregnancy Book (green and purple, A4) by your midwife or GP.

It covers all the basics about pregnancy and birth and is certainly worth reading.

If you haven't been given one (or need it in large print, Braille, another language etc), ask for it, or you can download it chapter by chapter here

mother2b · 04/07/2007 13:51

yeah i got that but have mainly just cooed over the little pics of babies and stuff

MrsCodger · 04/07/2007 13:54

[stern face]

read the words!

it's important!

how many weeks are you again?

mother2b · 04/07/2007 14:06

16+1 it just seems to be going so quick (just not quick enough - i want to meet it(him i hope))

MrsBadger · 04/07/2007 14:08

oh thnak god for that

I was thinking you were going to say '38 weeks' and were about to go into labour completely unprepared..

RGPargy · 04/07/2007 14:09

My midwife never gave me the pregnancy book. She took them out of her car boot on a Sunday night and forgot to put them back in on the Monday morning, hence me not getting my copy. She never gave me one at the next visit either. Luckily my friend has given me hers instead (not that i've actually read it!). This is my second pg tho so.........

mother2b · 04/07/2007 14:13

for you Mrs Badger

I didn't get one either - don't know if it's because I'm in Scotland though.

Chirpygirl · 04/07/2007 15:34

I got a mahoosive one as I am in Wales and it's bilingual.

I don't recommend opening it the wrong way up when tired, it always takes me a couple of minutes to realise I am trying to read Welsh!

CDC you should have got the Ready Steady Baby one, it's navy & says guess what on the front ! It's published by NHSScotland, you might get a link on their website.
