Help,
I'm 28 weeks or so pregnant, and increasingly my previous CS scar, which I always thought was fine - invisible and healed well, - is really hurting with a dull ache, especially when I move/walk. Is this ok? Is the baby's weight just pressing down, or is the scar weakening? I am hoping to have a VBAC, but now am wondering if the scar would rupture... Has anyone had this, is it normal?

Hiya

Cant answer your question, but it has certainly more or less answered one of mine! I had a tummy tuck over 10 years ago and was wondering what the impact of a pregnancy would be on the hip-to-hip length scar i have. I am wondering if it will ache like yours does too?

I should imagine your ache is probably due to the baby pressing on the scar and I dont think you would have anything to worry about, but as everyone will say to you, if you are seriously worried, have a chat to your MW.

wouldnt it be great if when you had a CS they put pop studs along the scar so when you had your next child it would just pop out
how good would that be

sorry - carry on

RGPargy · 04/07/2007 12:52

lol. Like a Robomum or summat?

mother2b · 04/07/2007 13:16

yeah, actuaully i think i zip might be better could be kept up securely until you wanted to let it loose

and you could use it like a carry pouch like a roo

thehairybabysmum · 04/07/2007 13:31

i could tuck my belly overhang in too...pac-a-mac style!!

mother2b · 04/07/2007 13:48

lmao

(think i might split the zip on mine )

thehairybabysmum · 04/07/2007 13:59

i think poppers better though....could be ishoos with trapped hairs and zip teeth..ouch!

Sorry luxmum...im currently 26 weeks and getting twinges from mine every now and then...not really achy though (yet) but i guess that stretching any scar is going to have some effect.

Have a chat with your mw/consultant about the potential impact on your VBAC...sure it will be fine.

I still cant decide whether to VBAC or not???

claraq · 04/07/2007 15:46

I'm about 18 weeks and occasionally feel a bit of ache from that area - did wonder if it would get worse. At the moment no worse than all the other pregnancy aches and pains causing me consternation.

hairybabysmum - I'm with you on not being able to decide on a vbac or not. At the moment probably going to go for it but have not seen the consultant yet to discuss implications. I do know that I don't want to be induced though....

Jbck · 04/07/2007 16:41

I'm almost 22 weeks and not getting twinges in my scar so wonder if it depends on how old the scar is. Mine was 6 years ago in September. Anyone else care to share?

RGPargy · 04/07/2007 17:22

Mine's not aching either Jbck. Mine is 13 years old.

I had a CS with DS in 97, when I was pregnant with dd2 in 2001, it really hurt, as she was breech my scar actually started to bruise where she was kicking it. I had 2 VBACs after DS, and will hoping for another in november

thehairybabysmum · 05/07/2007 12:03

Mines only 18 months old.

I have to go back for a rescan at 34 wks as placcenta was covering cervix at 20 wk scan so if it stays the same i will have o have c/s and decision out of my hands.

I would like a VBAC if i thought it would be relatively straight forward but i think i would prefer c/s to ending up with forceps/ventouse delivery....but thats the great unknown isnt it!!

Im sure ive also read that you're not meant to have an epidural with a VBAC (!)...in which case will prb go for another c/s!!

claraq · 05/07/2007 13:52

No epidural with VBAC??? aaagh. If that's true I'm not going through with it. Ok I might be able to cope without but I always like it there as a good fall-back option....

Will ask the consultant when I see her in a couple of weeks.....

Btw my last c-section was 22 months ago so still relatively new.

storminateacup10 · 22/08/2010 09:38

I think you're not meant to have an augmented labour or be induced once you've had a CS as there is a very small chance scar could rupture (tiny risk apparently)...so if you're over your due date they won't induce but you'll probably end up with another CS and if your labour slows they won't give you an oxytocin drip.
I have a couple of friends who VBACed after CS and they both had epidurals- thank goodness, as that's what I would like to have too- VBAC without an epidural? No way!

emmyloulou · 22/08/2010 10:08

Yes it's normal, to feel lots of pressure and be very uncomfortable at times.

The warning signs to look out for, are bleeding and a very rigid hard tummy, harder than you'd get from BH that does not go away.
