Anyone else on course to have a big baby?

I'm 32 weeks and my baby boy is predicted to now be over 10 pounds in weight, head and abdomen off the scale. My toddler girl was 8 pounds. I can't believe he is going to be this big. Today he apparently weighs 5 pounds 8 ounces and has had a growth spurt since four weeks ago when he weighed 3 pounds 3 ounces. Are these scans really accurate?! I'm shattered and getting hungrier but trying to control my weight gain as, although I have gained (only?) 17 pounds in this pregnancy I was overweight to start with.

Is 8lb 12 at 39 weeks a big baby medically? I thought big was over 4.5kg / 10lb.

I was expected to have a baby who was 9lbs5 at smallest, 10lbs biggest. I was induced the day after my due date for other reasons. She was only 8lbs4! Which isn't small no, but having had a 7lb1 and 8lb3 baby previously, it was right on track for me.

Me and the sonographer were joking at my 32 week scan about how big she was and how we wouldn't be needing to buy newborn sized clothes Grin quite glad she was wrong as I had some lovely bits in newborn size from my previous babies.

I had a scan at 39+4 due to reduced movements and was told ds would be 9lbs+ minimum. Was induced the next day and ds was born at 7lbs 3oz so I wouldn't take it as gospel

Same here OP, they told me at the 28 week scan that bubs is on the 89th percentile ...eek! I'm 32 weeks now and should be having a scan this week, but havent heard anything, been trying to chase it up today but with no luck :(. I do have GD tho, and since the 28 wk scan have been keeping to a fairly strict healthy diet and am REALLY hoping it is actually helping get babys measurements into more normal range because I'm just dying for a slice of cake lol :)! Super interesting the range of response on this thread though - every birth and baby is different and we cant predict what will happen unfortunately!
