Worth having the harmony test at age 28?

The main reason I'm considering it is because I'm very anxious about everything already, and the risk of a false positive from NHS screening seems fairly high – way higher than the risk of the baby actually having Down's Syndrome or another chromosomal abnormality.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

If you have the money to do it then do it for your own peace of mind

I had the harmony test simply because I wasn't happy with my result on the NHS screening. It was the best thing I ever did, it gave me peace of mind!!

We can certainly find the money, but we're not affluent enough that it feels like petty spending if that makes sense.

If it eases your mind, it's worth every penny Smile

OK, I think we'll go for it then. Thank you for the advice!

You are welcome! You won't regret it.. i was really debating it too and put it off for about a week thinking why waste the money?.. but then my other half said you can't put a price on an eased mind and he was so right... the rest of my pregnancy, I've enjoyed!!

We had the panorama (same thing) and were really pleased we did. It was one less thing to worry about and we also got to find out what we were having at 10 weeks, I'd say go for it.

We haven't opted for it in the end, but did consider it. My mw said that every mw she knows that has had a baby in the last few years has paid for the NIPT test, I did find that interesting.

I'm 35 but I had it done at 16 weeks, despite being very low risk after my scan and initial blood tests. Results came back as 0.01% chance of any of the 3 chromosome abnormalities it tests for. Expensive but it was the right decision for us as eased another worry. It included a scan too which was a real bonus.

I would def go for it, it’s a much nicer scan experience also as more time and better pics! Added bonus is you can find out gender if you’d like to
