We went for the mamas and papas flip xt2

Stormwhale · 06/02/2019 09:34

I've gone for the venicci carbo lux this time as I just loved the look of it. I am really pleased with the quality, but haven't used it yet.

It depends on your lifestyle.

I bought a Joie chrome as its light and easy to manoeuvre with one hand. I also live in a city so don't need to worry about it getting stuck in mud.

blondeirishmummy84 · 06/02/2019 09:40

I have a cosatto giggle 2 travel system with DS1 and love it! Its so easy to manoeuvre, is easy folded and fairly lightweight. DS1 was out of the carrycot around 4.5 months and ready to go into the buggy section.

Zebrasinpyjamas · 06/02/2019 09:44

That's too hard to answer as there is always a compromise. For example, I walk everywhere so needed a big shopping basket and was very sturdy and picked an uppababy vista (I still love it years on from buying it) . If I drove everywhere I would have picked a smaller, lighter one that took up less space in the boot of my car though.

abcriskringle · 06/02/2019 09:47

We also had the cosatto giggle 2 system. I liked it as it was very lightweight and generally easy to use. Downside - not great on all terrains and the storage basket thingy underneath isn't that big although it's ok.

TwittleBee · 06/02/2019 09:53

Love my Joie (compact to store, light, great steering)

Hated my SIlver Cross Pioneer (too bulky, too heavy, awful steering)

charteredmummy · 06/02/2019 10:03

Very much depends on your requirements as previous people have said.

We have a Bugaboo Buffalo and absolutely love it. It's 5 years old now but still good as new. It's really sturdy, easy to steer, good for round town but also for rougher ground on country (ish) walks, has a large basket etc. And the Bugaboo buggy board is really good too.

But... It's really heavy (to lift, not to push) and big once collapsed. So only good if you've got a large car and wouldn't be good if you were needing to collapse it quickly yo use public transport.

Good luck OP x

TulipsTwoLips · 06/02/2019 10:36

Out of interest, what model Joie do you have @TwittleBee?

NotAnotherUserName5 · 06/02/2019 10:48

Mamas and Papas Ocarro
Bugaboo Fox
Babystyle Oyster
Mamas and papas flip

Depends on lifestyle really. For more outdoorsy walking, you will need one with larger all terrain wheels. If you are more urban, something more compact is usually better.
Also, will you be on foot mostly, or having to haul it in and out of the car boot?

The best in between one I have found that ticks most boxes was the Fox. Lighter than the now discontinued Buffalo(which is amazing by the way)

The mamas and papas flip folds nice and slim, so great for storage and boots.

Another vote for cosatto giggle 2 here. 8 months in and I love mine. Really well made, high quality and come with a 4 year guarantee.

GemmeFatale · 06/02/2019 10:55

I’m looking at mountain buggy because I’m out with the dog most of the time and we share one car between us.

If I was an urban mum it would be too big and sporty, if I needed to get it in and out of a small boot it would be too big, and if I didn’t need the all terrain wheels it would be too expensive. But for now it looks like a reasonable compromise.

ReaganSomerset · 06/02/2019 10:59

Depends what you want. I went for a silver cross wave, but think they don't do them any more, because it can convert to a double and I'm thinking of having two close together. Also it goes up to 25kg rather than 15 for a single.

The icandy orange, I think it was, was the other option I considered as it also does the above and has an integrated buggy board so is even more future proof.

It depends what you're after, really. Look at a few reviews, pick a list of things you want the buggy to have/do and go from there. Good luck!

TwittleBee · 06/02/2019 11:04

well actually it isnt a Joie! Whooops @TulipsTwoLips - We were tossing up between a Joie and a Maxi Cosi! We actually went for the Maxi Cosi in the end! Sorry!

It is a maxi cosi elea!

Highly Recommend the maxi cosi elea

Mumtobe193 · 06/02/2019 11:10

I had a cream bebcar hiphop tech with DD, it was ok. Nice to push, basket wasn't huge but reasonable, and it was a gorgeous pram to look at, got loads of compliments. Downsides were that it seemed to attract the dirt, wasn't easy to clean, and extremely difficult to fold down!

This time around we've gone for the uppababy vista in black, and it seems great. I don't drive so having a big basket was essential so I can fit all of baby's, my 3 year olds bits and bobs and the shopping underneath, and the uppababy' basket is huge! I saw a lady the other week out and about with an uppababy & she had her older child's scooter in the basket of the pram, that's how big it is! Another big benefit of the uppababy is that you can buy the rumble seat and it converts to a double if your planning on having more children in quick succession, although my 3 year old is definitely far too big for the rumble seat, so we're buying the little skateboard thingamajig (not sure what they're called?) that attatches to the pram for my DD to stand on and that will be ideal for her if she gets a bit tired when we're out for long walks. I also like that the carrycot is approved for overnight sleeping so it eliminates the need for a Moses basket (we found our Moses basket to be a complete waste of money and space with DD), as we will probably use the pram carrycot for daytime naps, and for when baby's out at granny's, then have a next2me crib in our room. I also like that it comes with big UV canopy, as I'm having a spring baby I know by the summer it's will be a massive plus to have something that gives really good coverage from the sun without the faff and the expense of a parasol. I also love how easily the lining of the carrycot zips off, so easy to wash, far easier than my bebecar! Also I could not believe how easy it is to fold in comparison to my bebecar, you needed super strength to fold that thing down!

Only draw backs, I'm not as keen on the colour as I was with my bebecar, but I've gone for practicality over style this time. And it is quite big and bulky, not a huge issue if you have a big car boot or like me you don't drive. My DP does drive and his boot isn't the biggest, just means we can't get much else in the boot when the carrycot and the chassis are in there at the same time, but we have the option of just bringing to chassis and clipping the car seat on, or I can just use my sling. But during the week when DP is at work most of my outings will be on foot so not a huge deal, plus the seat section is much smaller so once baby's in that there will be plenty room in the car boot for seat and chassis, so only a temporary issue.

Anyway, as you can tell I'm absolutely in love with my uppababy! Can't wait to use it!

IWouldPreferNotTo · 06/02/2019 11:12

We went for the Venicci Gusto which I really like but it's huge and you do need a large car.

Springmummy19 · 06/02/2019 11:12

@hayley013 we went for the same. We got ours as a bundle ahd had the pram, carry cot, car seat adaptors for car seat and cup holder. We have the Cybex car seat which is slightly bigger and bulkier than the maxi cosy one

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 06/02/2019 11:16

I bought an Uppababy Vista 4 years ago. It still works perfectly and is in great condition - hoping to use it again with No. 2.

Pros
Carrycot designed so can also be used as a sleeping bassinet ie travel cot (I think it is more rigid and has holes in the wooden base?)
Comes with adapters to fit Maxi Cosi car seat on to frame.
Older pushchair can face forwards and backwards, can recline nicely, folds up without having to remove pushchair seat.
Huge shopping basket.
Sturdy frame. Has never tipped over or fallen.
Solid tyres = no punctures. One of my friends had a puncture in a rubber tyre and she literally couldn't move for hours.
Adjustable handlebar. I'm 6' and never felt I had to stoop, which I did with some other pushchairs.
Could fit her in until she was over 3. (Haven't needed to use it for a long time.)
Great handling, used to walk two dogs in one hand and push pram with the other. Could turn on a sixpence. Not at all cumbersome.

Cons
Takes up more space unless you fold it every time you're in the house.
Used to fit in my boot easily but I have a Volvo estate - would take up quite a bit of room in a smaller car.
It's a fairly heavy frame (which is good for me) might make it harder to push for a smaller build person Especially once they get to be about 2/3
If you have anything in the shopping basket when you try to fold it, it's really bloody annoying and doesn't collapse properly. This took me ages to work out. Blush

Good luck!

We went for the Cosatto Giggle 2 travel system - baby isn’t here yet but we put it together last night and are happy with the size of it & quality (so far). Didn’t want something too big and it’s pretty light weight.

BabyMoonPie · 06/02/2019 11:28

Mothercare and John Lewis (other shops may do it too) will let you make an appointment where a staff member will ask your requirements and talk you through the prams they sell, show you how they fold and let you push them etc. I don't think there's a shortcut - you really need to get to a shop with a big selection and try them out

BabyMoonPie · 06/02/2019 11:29

Going to a baby show might be good too if possible - lots of different brands on display and usually special offers available

Springmummy19 · 06/02/2019 11:30

@BabyMoonPie I am going to the one at London Excel next month

PBobs · 06/02/2019 12:24

We went for the Mountain Buggy Swift. I really wanted something small and light weight that would do well with light off road walks. I wanted something that wasn't too shiny or fancy looking as we live somewhere I wouldn't want to push a super glamorous or fancy looking pushchair.

sallysayshi · 06/02/2019 19:34

Bugaboo fox is a great pram, can see it lasting my DS for a good while. Carrycot converts into the seat part so no separate carrycot to store in the loft. It's fair big to fold but the wheels come off easily to save room. It has a brilliant hood which folds right down and stops any sun getting in on sunny days. It performs great on all terrains and get loads of nice comments about it when out and about. It's not cheap however!

stayhomeclub · 06/02/2019 20:10

I would go to a few different shops and try them out, I found I liked quite different prams/pushchairs to what I thought from looking online. We went for an M&P Ocarro. They all have positives and negatives and you can get tied up in knots with details.
