Okay mommies! its time for me to take a pregnancy test!!! Ekkkkkk. Do any of you have brands of tests your like or dislike?? Any of them that give false readings I do not want to try and take.

I'd say any with a pink dye. Good luck!

2dogsandPG · 05/02/2019 19:02

I used a digital one. No uncertain answers that way.

Bigonesmallone3 · 05/02/2019 19:05

For a cheapie Asda/Morrison's own
For a bit more, first response

YouBoggleMyMind · 05/02/2019 19:06

First response, early response.

Mommies?!

Any of them. They all do the same thing. Don’t be ripped off by the £10+ ones.

FRER is what I always use

beforeihit30 · 06/02/2019 01:57

I went for digital too. I see too many people online asking for second opinions on faint lines, I knew I wouldn’t be confident with whatever I saw. It was easier for me to get something which told me plainly ‘pregnant’ or ‘not pregnant’.

However I didn’t test a lot. I waited until period was late before testing, and only once got a ‘not pregnant’ (as in, period was late for other reasons). So basically the three other times I’ve used a digital test, I have in fact been pregnant, period has been late and I’ve had pregnancy symptoms. However, some people test early, or test often, for all sorts of reasons, so I understand the digital might feel like a bit of a rip off. As a sort of ‘one time thing’ in my pregnancies for me, it didn’t feel like the cost was a big deal.

Oysterbabe · 06/02/2019 05:58

They all work fine as long as you don't do it too early.

Fuppy · 06/02/2019 06:52

I'd avoid internet cheapies, they were fine about 3 years ago, but this year the lines were so faint, used a FR and the test line was darker than the control line. Good luck :)

BikeRunSki · 06/02/2019 06:58

I like the digital ones. They leave no room for doubt.

ReaganSomerset · 06/02/2019 06:58

The MN consensus is FRER but I find any work tbh. Wouldn't use digital as they aren't as sensitive early on. Got a faint line on a standard but then a 'not pregnant' same day on a digital. Wasn't enough hormone yet to detect.

CantBelieveMyLuck · 06/02/2019 07:28

It depends what you want out of a test. The ones from the supermarkets (own brand) are 25miu which is a good benchmark. With FR I think the threshold is 12.5miu which can lead to disappointment, as it has done with me, testing on day of period (years ago) for well...

This time I used a digital and it's good as you get a solid answer.

It depends if you'll be controlled with your testing. It's obviously not an option if you want to test to compare how dark lines get. I've done 3 digital & had 1-2 weeks, then 2-3 weeks, finally got the 3+ weeks.

Really wishing you all the luck.

Also I guess I should highlight what another poster queried. There's those of us who have had positives tests, but never got a baby in our arms. So mummies is a bit... Not in a nasty way, just in a we're not all Mums with 3+ kids, as most people imagine MN posters to be.

Let's us know how you get on.

Triskaidekaphilia · 06/02/2019 23:13

I tested a lot so would use loads of internet cheapy strips, and the occasional supermarket test. When I actually got pregnant it was one of the rare months where I managed to refrain from testing until after my period was due, I got my BFP on a morrisons test and then bought and took a first response with the weeks indicator the next day to be sure.

Triskaidekaphilia · 06/02/2019 23:16

Oops, clearblue not first response, it's cos I'd just read through the other posts and a lot mentioned FR!

Joeybee · 07/02/2019 03:49

If your ttc then you'll likely go through a LOT of pregnancy tests. My tip would be to get cheap dip tests from online, and one or two of the more expensive ClearBlue or first response, which you can use to confirm a suspected positive cheapie one.

Eminybob · 07/02/2019 04:00

NOT blue dye supermarket own brand. I’ve used Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose and had false positives (or evaps/shadows/ambiguous lines) on all of them.
Superdrug ones are good for a cheapie.
