Hi there! I’m 27w+1d and doing some major shopping for my soon to be newborn but I wanted to know if anyone has any recommendations for some products that I’ve still yet to buy?!
I still need a baby bath, a sleep aid, a breast pump and some bottles (as I’m planning on breast/bottle feeding), a good bouncer, anyone have any suggestions :)?
Anything else you’ve also tried and really loved for a new born would be great to know too! Thankyou!

I wouldn't buy the breast pump yet - I've tried three in my time (baby is 6 months) ranging from £10,30-£100. Also to properly establish breastfeeding you should aim to exclusively bf for 6 weeks before introducing bottles (doing so before 6 weeks can interrupt milk production and can disrupt baby's latch) you may also not want to breastfeed and be stuck with an expensive piece of kit! It's entirely your choice though, but with amazon prime and next day delivery I'd say keep it off the list for now.

Random pieces I liked - a very low watt nightlight so I could feed baby / change baby at night.
A sling! Saved me when baby wanted held and hated the pram
LOTS of muslins
Lots of simple baby sleepsuits. I was gifted lovely outfits but the first few weeks I just wanted simple easy and comfy outfits
Sleepyhead has been invaluable to us!
A constant white noise device - Myhummys are expensive but there's a little white noise owl on amazon that works for us (oh and recharging batteries too or it's extortionate!)

Congratulations :)))

@FeelingFlat I’ve been told not to get a breastpump yet, I think I’ll definitely leave it until after she’s born! You just see all these deals and offers, it’s so hard to resist when it’s so expensive anyway!! I wasn’t too sure on how to go about mixing bottle with breastfeeding tbh but was hoping they’d give me some advise on it in my antenatal classes next month :) Thankyou for the tips much appreciated! So much to learn.
I’ve heard good things about the sleepyhead but I’m not sure wether to get one now or after she’s born as they are quite expensive!
Thankyou so much for the recommendations, so much to buy!! But SOOO exciting I love it :D

I waited until she was about 3/4 days old and had resisted her males basket and next to me cot - I then splurged in the sleepyhead! There are lots of women on here who have successfully formula and BF fed from day one so perhaps a stand alone thread asking for information on that could help? Because I think of you ask for 'official' advice you will be warned your milk supply won't establish if baby isn't at breast for every feed / comfort. I highly recommend amazon prime - there will be lots of little bits and you'll be glad to have them delivered to you the next day. I also bought a huuuge 2.2 litre water bottle ad the breastfeeding thirst is quite extraordinary and I could keep that bottle at hand even with baby in bed and not knock over a glass! I'm also a lazy bum and treated myself to a few ''nice'' pairs of pyjamas / tracksuit type outfits so when guests would come I had something super comfy to lounge in :)))

Oh and nursing bras!! I went from reusing a normal bar pre pregnancy many times before it got chucked in the wash... but some days I was having to change my nursing bra 3 times. I stocked up on the 'cheap' amazon ones (I think about 3 for £20) and they were a godsend in the early days and I'm still exclusively wearing them as I'm quite small chested. And if you're planning on breastfeeding then get the nipple cream and mamasan nipple heal patches in and on from minute number one!!! Xx

You should allow your milk supply to kick in before pumping ideally and you can get one on amazon prime next day delivery when you really need one.

LANSINOH NIPPLE CREAM!!! Definitely don’t forget that, no one should even attempt breastfeeding without it Grin. M&S nursing bras are the best imo.

The best baby bath is the Shnuggle. I had all kinds of baby baths and supports in the past with my other three DC but bought this one for DC4 and it’s absolutely fantastic. He loves the bath and it completely supports him now he’s 3 months old so he can sit in it unaided (didn’t need much support in it even as a newborn tbf!).

I love the sleepyhead and the MyHummy white noise bear. They’re not necessary but white noise has always helped my four DC sleep and the sleepyhead means we can co-sleep safely which has been a life saver.

ALDI BABY WASH AND SHAMPOO! Couldn’t recommended it enough. 70p a bottle, lasts forever and smells exactly the same as Johnson’s which is more than double the price.

Oh and not a baby item but if you don’t already have one, a tumble dryer Wink.
