Positive test, is this real?

Hi

I done a test on Friday morning, the negative line appeared very quickly so I put it back in the box and didn't think anything of it. Anyway, for some reason I checked this morning and it's positive. Faint line but positive, has this happened to anyone before? Should I now buy a more expensive one?

I think you should take another, doesn’t have to be more expensive! Cheap ones have always given me the right result!
It sometimes takes a few minutes for the positive line to show. Take another and follow the instructions just to be sure you do it in the right time frame. Good luck!

The negative line?

StyleOfTheTimes · 04/02/2019 08:44

You don’t tend to get a negative line? You get a control line to say the test has been activated but if another line doesn’t appear then it’s negative. Also you should discard any results after the time frame has passed. So say it develops in 3 minutes and you check after 10 it can be void. You need to time the results. I’d take another one maybe a first response with your first wee of the day. Just to be sure.

You can’t rely on a test result after the time indicated on the box, usually 10 mins I think. The line you saw this morning is most likely an evap line. Doesn’t mean you’re not pregnant, but don’t get your hopes up based on that test, forget about it and test again. Hope you get the result you want x

After 5 mins the test dries and you get an evaporation line where the positive line would be.

Having said that this is how I found out I was having DS1. Going back to a 'negative' test hours later.

I would test again to be sure.

USER18888 · 04/02/2019 08:53

Ah, that could make sense. I have missed a period, I am going to go out and get another test. Do you think its best to do it again in the morning rather than tonight to be sure?

Yes first morning wee is always best.

USER18888 · 04/02/2019 09:18

it's going to be a long wait! Sad

I had never heard of evap lines before now, so just done a quick search. it says they are colourless, the test is definitely a blue strong line, and you can see it without having to really look at it.

I know every situation is unique so there is not much to be said until I do another test. Just feel like I'm going out of my mind in work.

Hi OP. First morning urine is usually best, but if you've already missed a period, it's likely you'd get a positive test at any time.
If you like, you could try holding your urine for a few hours before doing the test, but at two days after my missed period, I got a decent positive test with no holding in the middle of the day.

Good luck!

When I found out I was pregnant I got a positive first thing in the morning but tested again a couple of hours later and that wasn’t positive too. So you could test now but if it came out negative you should definitely test again first thing in the morning.

GabbyGal · 04/02/2019 13:44

*was positive too!

USER18888 · 04/02/2019 13:59

That gives me hope, I just done another one because I thought if its true that it was positive, I should get a positive one now but it was negative Sad

Don’t be too disheartened yet, do another test first thing tomorrow morning. First Response are meant to be the most sensitive so maybe try one of those.

USER18888 · 05/02/2019 14:27

Done a digital test, not pregnant this time.

I have all the symptoms but maybe all in my head after the test yesterday. Sad

Be aware that digital tests are less sensitive than normal ones, so it is possible that you're just too early on?
