Ladies... this afternoon/evening I have had really bad period pains and back ache, it has stopped me in my tracks a few times. Baby is moving lots but with most of the movements he's making I'm getting pressure in both my bottom and down into my pelvis..
Is this normal? I'm 37+2 FTM. I've not had any indication of labour with regards to loss of mucus plug/waters going etc. I'm a little worried but trying to keep calm and relaxed and just trying to ignore it as much as I can but it's quite difficult.

I'm 39+1 and experiencing the exact same thing. It's mostly in my lower back but it's constant and quite painful.
I'm just seeing how things progress over the next few hours as also don't have any show yet. It's so hard to know what's going on!

loveskaka · 03/02/2019 19:57

Are u getting these pain regularly? Have u timed them? U might not lose ur plug until right up to when ur waters break, or u may have already a not notice. If u are getting pains regularly and they are getting closer and sorer then it's probably labour. The pressure will be baby move dwn

loveskaka · 03/02/2019 20:00

Every birth is different, u may not have a show until ur waters break and ur waters might not break until baby's just about ready to come out. Time ur "contractions" and let us know x

emma911030 · 03/02/2019 20:05

@TinyMarie thank you for your reply. Is this your first?
@loveskaka the back pain is pretty constant I will however start timing the cramping pain.. I have had Braxton Hicks which made my entire stomach contract and go solid so maybe I was just waiting for that again for the real thing. Thank you, sorry I must seem so crazy not knowing what's going on with my own body, I just have no idea Sad thank you for your response!

Don't be silly, there are many different ways for it can happen, ur waters might not even break even though ur contractions are close, u may need to get ur waters broke. My waters broke at 5:50am and I didn't start getting contractions till 11.30am (ish) and had my ds at 18:06 that night. I was only 33.3 weeks though!

loveskaka · 03/02/2019 20:21

The achy back and pressure is the give away sign it's probs labour, dnt really get that with braxton hicks.

TinyMarie · 03/02/2019 20:40

This is my first @emma911030 so not sure what to expect.
I'm getting the pressure but the back ache is pretty constant so I can't really time anything at this point. Don't feel silly, it seems it can sometimes be quite difficult to tell when it's the real deal!

emma911030 · 03/02/2019 20:53

Thank you both ladies, I've just had a mini panicky cry and have ran a bath, going to see if I can just relax and stay calm so I don't get myself all overwhelmed and in a pickle the period type pains have eased now, or at least not come back for a little bit so need to try and keep myself calm and just be cautious about noticing them coming close together x

Sometimes UTI's can cause you to feel period cramps and lower back pain too as I had a bad one at 34 weeks.
Just something else to be mindful of Smile

loveskaka · 03/02/2019 21:29

Ohh I had a bad UTI at 32 weeks and a really bad cough! I swear that's what put me into premature labour! Worked out well as at 33.3 weeks my ds was 5.1! Dnt want to think what he would have been almost 7weeks later! And I am only 4ft 11 and pre pregnancy weight 7st!... think he done me a favour lol

emma911030 · 03/02/2019 23:49

Thank you ladies. I'm obviously ok as although I still have bad back pain and the pressure when he's moving it's been nearly 50 mins since my last real period type pain xx

TinyMarie · 04/02/2019 06:58

Yeah, UTI's are known to trigger pre-term later and the only main symptom I had of one was period type cramps.
I hope you're doing ok today @emma911030! I'm still getting lower back pain on and off but it's eased slightly so am assuming it's just things getting ready.

emma911030 · 04/02/2019 09:59

Yeah. I think he was just getting himself engaged or moving down that way anyway, cramping has pretty much stopped, I had two that was about 12 mins apart and then it went to just over an hour so I was conscious of them but not counting anymore after that. Back pain still there and pubic bone causing lots of pain so I think he's just wedging his head down there now lol. He must have got to yesterday afternoon and thought sod it i'm going for it 😂 x

TinyMarie · 04/02/2019 10:44

Mine did that a few weeks ago and knocked a bit of the plug away!
If you start experiencing lightening pains down below then he's likely engaging Smile
Hopefully he'll stay put for a few more weeks but it's a good sign that he's getting ready!
I'm worried I won't be able to tell when it's the real deal and deliver in the car which happened to my Mum! Confused

emma911030 · 10/02/2019 21:38

@TinyMarie how are things with you? I'm having pains and pressure again this evening, feel like I need both a wee and a pooh 😩. Hoping nothing comes from it as my OH is fast asleep cause he's poorly, don't really want to have to wake him up to go to the hospital if it's nothing!
Have been losing my plug over the last few days. I have my 38 week midwife appointment tomorrow! x

Hi @emma911030.
I am good thank you! I delivered my perfect baby girl on Sunday morning just after 1am.
I did take after my Mum in the end as the whole thing lasted less than 3 hours but luckily my waters went so I knew it was happening. Very quick and intense as I only had time for a bit of gas and air but managed. We are still being kept in as my iron is a bit low from blood loss but I'm ok and madly in love with her!
How are you feeling? Any progress? The plug going is definitely a good sign!

emma911030 · 11/02/2019 10:50

Oh my gosh this is amazing!! Bless you for replying! So so happy for you!! Massive congratulations! Sorry to hear you've been kept in but your in the right place at least! This has absolutely made my morning! I literally thought I was going to be heading to the hospital last night but then I managed to fall asleep through the pain so still home this morning. I'm assuming they're all just Braxton Hicks now which is slightly infuriating cause I just want him here now! He's causing me too much pain lol take care lovely xx

Thank you @emma911030!
We were allowed home yesterday and I'm blissfully happy with her asleep on me now. I'm on iron tablets and having to take it very easy but that's fine by me. I can't believe labour started on my actual due date!
I think what I thought were more frequent Braxton Hicks were actually early labour so you never know. When is your due date?
Please keep me updated and let me know when the little man makes his arrival Smile x

emma911030 · 21/03/2019 00:58

@TinyMarie hey, I've not really been on here that much recently and it slipped my mind to respond to you! So really sorry about that.
My little boy finally arrived. My waters broke on my due date 22nd Feb and he arrived at 05.09 on 23rd after some positioning issues (his head was a little tilted to the side) so I was unable to deliver completely myself which is gutting for me I ended up in theatre as they had to try and move his head and then although I did have to push I couldn't feel it (they gave me a spinal incase they couldn't turn him so would have ended up as a section) so doesn't feel as though I really gave birth. But he arrived safely which is all that matters. He was 7lb11oz and just perfect. Mad to think he's going to be 4 weeks this weekend. Hope you and your little one are doing well! x
