Early pregnancy eating issues

I think this is more a psychological thing as I am only 5 weeks so it's not because of the pregnancy, but any tips for stopping eating so much?

I think I'm eating to take my mind off the fear of it all (it's my second and no issues last time but my best friend has recently suffered several miscarriages)

I was trying to get back into cycling a few times a week but it's all fallen by the wayside. I just can't get my motivation going and then I'm over eating too. I think I'm using early pregnancy as an excuse to not cycle as I wouldn't say it was regular for me at all so maybe I shouldn't be starting exercise?!
It's just going to mean I'm going to show so so early. Any tips for healthy filling meals and snacks so I'm not huge by the time I make it halfway! And how to motivate my fat backside

It doesn't mean you'll show early, it means you'll probably look chubbier all over unfortunately.

I'm not judging you because I've definitely been hitting the snacks lots more than before I was pregnant. I just feel hungry a lot of the time, and use snacks to ward off the nausea and give my energy when I'm tired.

Unfortunately as well, I have gone off all my favourite healthy foods. I can't remember the last time I ate a salad, the thought makes me gagg and I am craving mostly salty and carby foods.

If you're eating out of nerves then this might help to reassure you - I check it almost every day and it makes me feel loads better - datayze.com/miscarriage-reassurer.php

Porridge with fruit is a really filling and slow release breakfast (I have it for dinner sometimes if i can't stomach anything more than that).
Other things to snack on are popcorn, rice cakes, etc. I'm obsessed with Salt & Vinegar snackajacks. I'm certainly indulging in things I fancy but I also don't want to use it as an excuse to binge on junk for 9 months.

Remember that a) you should be giving your growing baby the nutrients it needs to develop, not junk food that will provide little nourishment and b) you will have to lose the weight after, so don't make it harder for yourself now

If you're overeating but only on sensible foods, then I think you can put that down to needing the extra energy to grow a person. Don't feel too bad about being hungrier than usual.

Are you drinking lots of water? Hunger is usually dehydration. I'm trying to drink lots of no added sugar squash and herbal teas.

Re exercise, I wouldn't go starting something new, but stick to what you were already doing before. If that's nothing, then you can always take long walks. I try to do at least 30 mins a day, even if its just a brisk walk. Just do what you can and don't be too hard on yourself.

The book "How to grow a baby and push it out" says that we only need to consume 200 more calories per day, and that's not until the 3rd trimester.

Hope this helps! Good luck with your pregnancy :)

Thanks.

I wouldn't say I'm eating all the wrong things at the moment. I'm having my usual fruit and yoghurt at breakfast, healthy evening meals full of vegetables and lunch is crackers and cottage cheese. It's the additional snacks of crisps that are not so good.
I was an irregular exerciser prior to this. I had spent a month or 2 towards the end of last year spending an hour or so on my exercise bike a few times a week. Then it got really cold and I got lazy. Not sure if it's a bad idea to pick it back up right now.

That site brought a smile to my face. Definitely all about staying positive.
I put on quite a bit with my first (definitely more than you are supposed to) but I majorly motivated myself 3-4 months pp and managed to get back to pre pg weight in a year. I go with it takes 9 months to make a baby so it'll at least take that long to get my body back. I'm definitely bigger now than I was then though, the last 5 years have slowly seen an increase in weight 😳😬

Oh and I don't having any sickness or nausea yet at all. When does that even start as I can't remember with dd!

Well in that case I wouldn't feel too bad about it! Like I said, I've been indulging in extra snacks but I feel like it's fair enough to respond to cravings (unless they're things like boxes of Krispy Kreme doughnuts). I'd never usually sit at my desk eating crisps at 11am but I'm growing a human so if I feel like it, then I will, and won't feel guilty.

It's not going to be a period of being as slim as usual, and I'm aware that I am only going to get bigger so just trying to go with it, without going mental on the eating front.

I'm 9 weeks and I've been exhausted since I got the BFP, but only had some wavering nausea for a couple of weeks.
