I am a trainer and fitness instructor and former gymnast. Pushing myself to the max has always been natural for me. Now that i’m pregnant i’ve heard that’s not a good idea. Anyway i’ve Tried so hard to try and exercise moderately but i’m Only 4 weeks pregnant and am not telling anyone. I’ve been doing CrossFit for years and i’ve been keeping up with it because I know you can continue anything you did before. Anyway the problem came today when I did a WOD (workout of the day) they had that seemed find but I ended up pushing it way too hard. I didn’t realize it was going to be that hard and once I was doing it and the coach yelling at us to keep it up I just automatically switched into athlete mode. Afterwards I was sweating a lot, very out of breath and felt a little dizzy. Now I’m worried I could have done something to my baby. It was only 16 minutes long but I’m worried. Anyone else push themselves too hard on occasion?

I was very active before I got pregnant but once I knew I was, I slowed down to more gentle stuff and walking as even though they advise that you can keep it up, it is generally not a good idea to go very hard.

I think out of breath and dizzy was just a kind little warning to you to slow down a little. If it was anymore serious then you would probably know as your symptoms would be more serious.

I CrossFit 4 times a week I'm not going (as my coach calls it) balls to the wall. I'm 14weeks pregnant. I need to work hard enough to get out of breath otherwise I don't see the point (personal preference) I've scaled my weights and I don't go 100% maybe 70/80% in cardio, and as you say the WODs are usually 15/20mi. and that works for me and my body.
Although I have never felt dizzy, that would be a warning sign for me.

Tell your coach so they stop screaming at you to push harder, they would want to know, and as I'm sure you know the joy of CrossFit is everything is scaleable.
