How soon did labour start after you lost your mucus plug?

Just that really!

Have lost mine this morning and desperately hoping nothing happens for at least a week!

I lost my mucus plug various times throughout pregnancy... actually recall writing a thread about it as I was worried if it was okay to lose it during 2nd trimester constantly.

I did ask my MW about it and she said it is common for some PG women to keep losing it but it grows back so not to worry.

So not sure if it is always a reliable indicator of imminent labour

Thanks everyone. Well it's been over 24hrs now and nothing so keeping my fingers crossed it stays this way.

@TheRhythmlessMan we have no childcare secured until the weekend (we are immigrants with no family around) so if I go in to labour this week DC will have to come with us to the hospital Confused

It might be worth planning for that eventuality I'm afraid OP. You might find the hospital won't allow unaccompanied children to wait at the hospital. It might be a good time to find someone else they could go to or your DP might have to stay with them whilst you are giving birth.

How old are they?

TickleMeEmo · 29/01/2019 15:22

6 weeks and a week before labour started (in the same pregnancy) when it came away at 34 weeks it grew back.

LaurenSarah22 · 29/01/2019 15:24

2 weeks!! And in those two weeks I had 2 smears. Losing you plug means nothing. Mine was even bloody

mytime2 · 30/01/2019 19:01

@pastabest DD is 13 months old

Eeek so definitely not capable of sitting quietly reading a book for an hour or so in a waiting room then?

I really doubt they will let you take her in with you I'm afraid. Have you checked?

Overnight for me I slept threw labour and water Brocken at home and had her straight away at hospital I hope this one I am carrying is the same

mytime2 · 30/01/2019 21:01

@pastabest I don't think they allow any children on the labour ward so I'd probably have to give birth on my own until we find emergency childcare.

About a week. Was very disappointed it took so long!

Thamantha · 30/01/2019 21:11

Mine came away about 24 hours ago (40+3) but there have been no other signs of labour yet.

Bunnybaubles · 31/01/2019 00:32

Lost mine at 28wks with DD1, went into labour 42+9

Beckanne90 · 31/01/2019 07:13

I start to lose mine really early. Think it was from 33 weeks with my second he was born at 40. Even earlier with my 3rd, 4th and 5th. Now I’m having my 6th I lose bits of it most days. For some people it’s reliable and for some it isn’t.

WinterRose92 · 31/01/2019 07:20

I think it was around 5 days for me.

brodiee · 31/01/2019 09:25

A day or two I think

TheRhythmlessMan · 01/02/2019 20:24

Do update us OP when there's news! Smile

Less than 24 hours both times but it came out in chunks.
