No.

Agree def not

I'd take a thermometer if I was you - if it's the cooler end of the scale I then up to 35 degrees is fine. Anything over I'd give it a miss - there's very little research on it but it could cause you to faint or limit nutrients to the baby if it's too warm.

I only found all this out AFTER going in one whilst pregnant - I'd had no idea the advice was not to before this! Blush

I went on a jacuzzi at the gym, but it wasn't hot at all....more like a cool bath. You have to think of your little baby inside you being cooked, some hot tubs are so hot. Maybe sit on the side and put your legs in, take a few nice magazines to read to make up for missing out. It's only for 9 months xx

Teddyreddy · 27/01/2019 20:54

A birthing pool has to be at 37 C and they let you spend hours in that - so I've always gone by the rule that up to 37 C is OK, above is not. A proper hot tub is normally somewhere between 38 and 40 ish. If other people are getting out to cool down or look flushed I think you'd have to assume it's too hot for you - I used to sit on the edge and dangle my legs in if it was possible.

There is, however, some new research that says you can go in a hot tub at up to 40 C for up to 20 minutes although nhs advice still says no www.telegraph.co.uk/science/2018/03/01/pregnant-women-can-enjoy-hot-baths-saunas-without-risk-says/

My midwife says absolutely not. They say this due to the risk of infection from the tubs possibly not having been cleaned properly.

Janleverton · 27/01/2019 20:59

Definitely not. Manky water at perfect term breeding temp as well as prolonged heat.

TokyoSushi · 27/01/2019 20:59

Nope

Darkstar4855 · 27/01/2019 21:06

Not if it’s over 37 degrees i.e. warmer than body temperature, because of the risk of overheating.

DramaAlpaca · 27/01/2019 21:07

No, not worth the risk.

AnneLovesGilbert · 27/01/2019 21:09

Nope! Don’t boil the baby. Every hot tub I’ve ever seen is very clear they’re not safe in pregnancy.

Tinyteatime · 27/01/2019 21:23

I wouldn’t be worried by the heat so much as the cleanliness (see link teddyreddy posted). Pregnancy makes you feel heat more and you are incredibly unlikely to raise your core temp to dangerous levels. I used jacuzzi and steam room throughout my later pregnancy with no ill effects. However once all my family got a skin infection from a hot tub on holiday, most unpleasant and not something you’d want in pregnancy.

Miane · 27/01/2019 21:26

Individual hot tubs are filthy.

A hit tub in rental accommodation is likely to be full of all sorts of boldily fluids from previous guests.

I absolutely wouldn’t use it.

Janleverton · 27/01/2019 21:51

My cousins family all ended up with hideous itchy rash neck down from a holiday hot tub. Was some sort of fungal thing I believe.

Bigonesmallone3 · 27/01/2019 21:59

I wouldn't..

TokenGinger · 27/01/2019 22:17

I don't understand the heat warnings, but these don't apply to baths. My bath is hotter than any hot tub I've ever been in.

I get it from the cleanliness perspective.

Miane · 27/01/2019 22:27

Token I’m not sure but the difference might be that hot tubs are a constant temperature- your bath cools down.

People also tend to spend a long time in a hot tub.

Sleeplikeasloth · 28/01/2019 09:30

I've had baths pretty much every day of both my pregnancies - not ultra hot, but certainly not cool ones either. I try to make them a bit cooler in the first trimester, but after that, I judge it by my comfort levels.

I have very bad spd, and it's the only thing that eases the pain. It's caused no problems whatsoever.
