Binge eating whilst pregnant

Hi,
I'm currently 9 weeks pregnant and got back into binge eating :(
I used to do this a lot but it's been fine the past year or so.
I don't understand why it's happening again.
Does anyone else suffer with this? X x

Yes. I have struggled with disordered eating over the years and the fact I had to eat a lot to stop the nausea has meant I'm still eating too much and binging at 14 weeks. I had been eating mostly better for 10 months before getting pregnant to help concieve, but from 6 weeks onwards the nausea made me eat all the time, most healthy meals disgusted me, and I was too sick and exhausted to go to the gym. I'm hoping to get back into it but my favourite healthy meals from pre pregnancy mostly disgust me so I'm having to find new things. A lot of the stuff I can stomach is stuff I find hard not to binge on. I'm still working on it.

I can completely relate, my weight has varied over the years, mostly when im not 'dieting' or attending a weight loss group i binge eat so i spend alot of time rejoining slimming world and getting my eating under control. Since being pregnant though i have seen it as a green light to be as greedy as i like and keep telling myself ill worry about weight when ive given birth. I know these are complete excuses but since about 5 weeks pregnant i have no longer been able to eat chicken or salmon (which are 2 major dishes that i would eat when being healthy) i also couldnt stomach salad which was what i would usually eat for lunch and only in recent weeks now (im 28 weeks) have i been able to eat lettuce again. However im not going to beat myself up about it all throughout the rest of my pregnancy, i make good choices at work with fruit and yogurt for breakfast, fruit for snacks and more fruit with a sandwich at lunchtime, then i have a normal dinner of what i fancyt and allow myself something sweet in the evenings. If you make good choices when you can then that's the main thing. If i've eaten my 5 a day then it excuses my bar of chocolate in the evenings!

Sorry to hear this OP. If you're based in Uk, do talk to your midwife. I was amazed how quickly I was able to speak to someone about my mental health - I have ocd. The nhs has been amazing. Get all the support you can.
