Sorry if this is a touchy subject and sorry if this upsets anyone.
Does anyone know what's the earliest a baby can be born and survive? I'm 26 weeks, and last few weeks been getting bad pains and the braxton hicks I've been getting are so intense. I've just got a horrible feeling my baby's going to come early 😪 I've got the midwife on Monday do I will talk to her about my worries and im sure it's just my body getting stretched etc but can't help but worry

Mine and my friends were 26-27 weeks and I knew of a baby at 23+6

Every day makes a difference so I would ask now to go to triage - not Monday. Do not waste time

At 26 weeks, roughly 80%. 27 weeks, roughly 90%. Keep it in there as long as you can, but it can definitely survive at 27 weeks. Have a good chat with your midwife when you next see her. Hope all goes well.

If the BH are painful I'd get seen sooner rather than later. I was given drugs to slow them down at 30weeks and steroids to help babies lungs. Those simple steps can make all the difference. I'm now 33 weeks and although the BH are still there they're not progressing to actual labour pains. Don't sit around worrying about it, it's best to get checked out if only for the reassurance.

When I was a nursing student (back in the mists of time) I was on a level 3 NICU placement (accepted any baby born from 23 weeks) and we had a number of 23-26 weeker’s survive and go home - but very few of them had no complications as a result of their prematurity, and they spent many months in hospital. Since those days the level of expertise, equipment and knowledge of prematurity has gone up by a lot so they are able to address some of these issues but not eliminate any risk

I was born at 24 weeks nearly 25 years ago- and I'm perfectly healthy, besides a spot of asthma.
