Babies weight gain (breastfeeding)

Hi

I’m looking for anyone who has experienced a similar thing and has any solutions/positive outcome stories.

My little boy was born just below the 70th centile. He gained really well initially and since about week 6 he has been gaining more slowly. He is now around the 30th centile. He was VERY unsettled for the first 3 months of his life and we tried everything to calm him - reflux meds, complete allergen exclusion from my diet. You name it we tried it. In the last week he seems to have calmed down a little bit but his feeding is still all over the place and I’m still concerned about weight gain. He feeds a lot at night and only really snacks during the day (sometimes I worry he doesn’t have many wet nappies in the day) He often refuses the breast outright in the day - I’ve tried the whole recreating the nighttime environment but this doesn’t help.

We’ve been told by a consultant that he is at risk of failure to thrive and I’m unsure how to get him to gain anymore weight. We’ve tried topping him up with expressed milk and also Neocate (although we now are pretty sure he doesn’t have an allergy so this gross formula isn’t really needed anymore). He refuses both. My milk supply is v good and at night he feeds like a dream. We have to change him about 3 times in the night as his nappies are totally soaked and v heavy. He doesn’t have his night and day mixed up sleep wise because he is v sleepy by 7pm and even though he wakes frequently after feeding he is back to bed easily.

So, anyone else had a similar situation and what worked/did it get better. He seems more content this last week (he basically screamed non stop for 12 weeks) so I’m at a bit of a loss as to how to encourage more daytime feeding. (I’ve tried the whole lazy day in bed/skin to skin but he is way too active and nosey to want to do that. I’ve also tried taking him away from any distractions but he just still seems totally disinterested!)
