Am I missing something about the UppaBaby Vista?

Hi!

I’m expecting my first baby in July and I have been doing my research into travel systems. I can’t get past the UppaBaby Vista....of all the reviews I’ve read it really stands out as the best for me. However, looking online there seems to be limited places to buy and websites that have it does not always have them in stock. Are they hard to come by in the UK?

My other question is does anyone have any other suggestions as an alternative to the Vista if I struggle to get it. The main features in my looking for are:

Large shopping basket
Not too heavy
Easy to push/manoeuvre
Easy to fold

Any information would be appreciated. TIA.

I had one 6 years ago. It was fab. They are big (this was also before they designed the Cruz) but they are lovely to push, brilliantly sturdy and well made and they last forever. My friend is now on her third child and all have used the Vista.

Thanks for the link to John Lewis. Don’t know what was going on when I was looking. John Lewis don’t seem to have the full selection of colours though. Black would not be my first choice.

Most people are doing nothing to dissuade me from going for the Vista! I will try out the flip and the Cruz though. The appeal with the Vista is also the ability to adapt it for double buggy use. Having tried for a baby for a number of years and being a bit older, if I’m fortunate enough to have another, I won’t be leaving it too long.

What a bargain cosmoa! Doubt I’ll get one for that price!

@windy2909 - Give them a call. I have a JL in my home town so I could easily go there to try and buy. They had the whole range for me to pick from as I just picked from the swatches.

groovystyle.co.uk/pushchairs/pushchairs/uppababy/uppababy-vista-2018.html

I got mine here in a bundle with a car seat (they did a Recaro one for the same price as the other car seat bundles). They have 10% off at the moment and are a lovely bunch of people.

ShimmeringIce · 25/01/2019 20:18

Ours is still going strong after 5.5 years and is so comfy to push, and for sleeping in. It is quite wide and heavy, but I really miss the big basket when I’m using a smaller pushchair! (Have considered taking it shopping with a fake baby more than once GrinBlush)

stinkypoo · 25/01/2019 20:21

I absolutely loved my Uppababy! It was absolutely amazing.
Ordered ours online, it comes with everything you need xx

stinkypoo · 25/01/2019 20:26

Yep, used mine for 3+ years, including using the pram bit for evening sleeping, loved it so much , silk bought one too, also loved it and is now using it for no 2, my old one has gone to other SIL and sh3 loves it too.
So easy to steer one handed, amazing shopping basket too.

emzw12 · 25/01/2019 20:32

I have uppababy vista - brilliant!
John Lewis sell all versions and colours and you get the John Lewis guarantee.

John Lewis do loads of colours

Compared to bugaboo and I candy the vista is "cheaper", don't forget a lot of pushchairs you have to buy bits separately like the carry cot etc. Vista comes with everything for the price.

Mustangsallyis · 25/01/2019 20:41

Another Vista fan here. Mine is in its 4th year now and I think my youngest is probably outgrowing it now - his lack of desire to be in a buggy rather than anything to do with the buggy itself. Huge shopping basket, easy fold, easy steer - all positives.

Turns out that out of 7 of us in my antenatal group for DS1, 5 of us had an Uppababy Vista! As others have said, John Lewis is probably the best stockist in terms of stores, stock and locations.

windy2909 · 25/01/2019 20:52

Right, if I wasn’t sold before, I am now! I think the fact that so many people have them is an indication of how good they are. Also, they seem to stand the test of time.

Thank you so much for all your opinions. They really have helped me to decide.

@Doublechocolatetiffin thanks for that link. They seem to be doing good deals for bundles with the car seat, which is ideally what I’m looking for. Between this company and John Lewis I’m sure I’ll get what I’m after.

Now to decide what car seat to get to go with it 🤔. I definitely want one with isofix base.....those of you with a Vista....any recommendations?

Maxi cosi pebble car seat

AussieMum28 · 25/01/2019 21:18

Uppa fits your criteria to a T though I would say you need quite a large boot as it literally takes up the whole space as the carrier doesn't fold down but it's so simple to move and put up/down. We got ours from John Lewis x

mommybear1 · 25/01/2019 21:57

Agree @Tiredismymiddlename85 that's what we had and the base then works for maxi cosi pearl

Trebormints74 · 25/01/2019 22:03

The uppababy Cruz. Smaller version but lovely basket. Uppababy vista has a wide frame which can be awkward . It’s a good option if you plan on two close together otherwise Cruz is perfect.

Clem90 · 25/01/2019 22:03

Another vote for the uppababy! Worth mentioning John Lewis price match, we ended up getting £100 pounds off because we sent a link to an online site that was selling for £500. Also got the navy carry cot for £100 new aswell x

Clarabell33 · 25/01/2019 23:25

Seeing that you've safely made your decision, can I add one downside? Wink I didn't have one but almost all my mum friends did, so I had a fair look at them over time!

I liked a lot about the Uppababy (particularly the height) but it has a wide wheelbase at the rear, which is great for stability and storage space, but shite for getting through even slightly narrow doors easily, or weaving between rails in shops, or walking two abreast on narrow footpaths... outweighed massively by all the positives but every time I pushed one, I was surprised by how much wider and therefore less agile it felt than my humble Oyster 2. Just wanted to provide something else to consider.

CottonSock · 26/01/2019 07:07

I went for the oyster for the same reason.

emzw12 · 26/01/2019 07:18

Maxi cosi pebble or maxi cosi pebble-plus Isize.
99% of car seats will fit on 99% of pushchairs.
Again John Lewis can go through all the info with you, make an apt for a nursery session (free of charge) and they'll literally show you everything you want and need to know.

emzw12 · 26/01/2019 07:20

Maxi cosi pebble or maxi cosi pebble-plus Isize. Then the base you need will be the same base that you can use with the group 1 maxi cosi pearl when baby needs to move up a size. If you get the maxi-cosi cabiofix that uses a different base which you can't use with any group 1 seats.
99% of car seats will fit on 99% of pushchairs.
Again John Lewis can go through all the info with you, make an apt for a nursery session (free of charge) and they'll literally show you everything you want and need to know.

SnailorSwift · 26/01/2019 07:21

The Uppababy Vista is amazing! I had one with DS and will use again with new baby.

I did a lot of research too and honestly must have been in every peak shop in a 50 mike radius as wanted to try different styles out. Hands down it was my favourite!

Whereland · 26/01/2019 07:22

I have the icandy orange, apparently brought out specifically to rival the vista. The shopping basket is huge!! Much bigger than vista. I liked it

Terramirabilis · 26/01/2019 07:24

I have one. Bit confused by the suggestion that we don't have many other options here in the US??? Also by the idea that we don't walk much. I'm amazed by the ability of Mumsnetters to shoehorn their negative views of the US into everything.

I like the Vista because it's very well made and easily maneuverable and you really can steer it with one hand. Lots of nice accessories too. Only downside is the rear width.

SnailorSwift · 26/01/2019 07:28

*pram shop in a 50 mile radius

Too early for me, can't type properly! 🤦🏼‍♀️💕

Sounds like you are convinced anyway! With regards to car seat if you can find somewhere near you that stocks the BeSafe IZi Go it's fantastic. Isofix, looks lovely, really great safety ratings and works well on an upababy.

bettyboo40 · 26/01/2019 07:28

I loved mine. Bought it in 2012 in John Lewis. I found it great to manoeuvre and I loved the storage. They can't be very popular around here as I struggled to sell it afterwards on my local selling site, even though it was in great condition. After years in the attic I'm fed up of it taking up room so mine is off to a charity shop too.
