I’m currently 12 weeks pregnsnt. Morning sickness started when I was 10 weeks, along with dizzy spells and tiredness due to lack of sleep (sickness waking me up in the night). My GP signed me off work for two weeks due to sickness and tiredness. My symptoms haven’t improved (if anything I feel worse!), my sick paper runs out today and the GP is reluctant to extend my sick note for another week, so it looks like I’ll be back in work on Monday.

I work in a large office (Civil Service) and the toilet is two corridors away from my desk. I’m thinking of buying a small bin to take in with me because I know I won’t make it to the toilet in time.

I’m doing the usual eating little and often, plain foods and lots of ginger biscuits. I have very little energy and all I want to do is sleep. Does anyone have any tips to help me cope?

You poor thing, it’s the worst. Have you told your boss/colleagues that you’re pregnant yet? You’re 12 weeks so if you haven’t told them yet you could tell them now, I found it really helped that people understood why I was so miserable and kept disappearing from my desk and running for the door the minute the clock struck 5pm. My boss was great and told me that if I need to leave early or anything if I’m not feeling well that’s fine, your boss might be the same. Luckily I haven’t been too bad for the past week or so (14 weeks now), hopefully it will start to ease soon for you too x

My Line Manager and Team Leader are aware and they’ve both been very supportive so far.. they’ve told me to concentrate on myself, to take all the time and not rush back until I’m ready. The rest of the team haven’t been told yet, but I don’t mind them knowing if it makes my life a little bit easier. My hours are quite flexible, the office is open 7am - 6pm and I can work any hours I want between those times. In my last pregnancy my sickness happened in the morning and then I could get on with my day, but this time round it’s jjsg relentless Sad
