I cannot stop worrying. Couldn't sleep last night. Just wondering what if something is wrong. I feel like the doctor robbed me of any excitement and now I will worry the entire pregnancy. I posted about this yesterday. I'm 12 weeks pregnant. Nuchal came back 2.4 which I was told was borderline and NIPT came back negative. I am not going to the CVS/aminiocentisis b/c I fear miscarriage at 40 years old and not sure if i'll easily be able to get pregnant. This is my first pregnancy. Has anyone received news like this and felt sick with worry? I need reassurance. I am scheduled for early anatomy scan at 16 weeks.

I feel uncomfortable/vulnerable laid out on an examination table, too. It's totally understandable why you would worry, but I hope your ob/gyn can put your mind at rest. Flowers

@willow1992

one more question - was just reading back all the comments. Whatever happened with your babies potential "heart issues"? Was it ruled out at the 16 week scan?

Yes heart was healthy at the anatomy scan. Smile No problem! x

Okay, this is very confusing. Was she actually picking up something on the scan which made her think there may be heart issues? Or was she purely responding to the "borderline" nuchal thickness? Did she know the NIPT had come back as no concerns? A baby can have serious heart problems without having one of the trisomies, so the baby could have heart issues and still have a normal NIPT.

@CountessVonBoobs

Nothing came up on the scan. This was a 12 week scan. She knew the NIPT was negative so she made this speculation purely off the borderline/high nuchal reading which was 2.4. It was very confusing to me as well. I learned about all this stuff yesterday.

Just catching up on this, sorry if I was harsh OP, I thought it was another desperate not to have a DS baby as I have an amazing relative with DS and am very sensitive about it.
Your doctor sounds completely nuts and insensitive. Who the fuck mentions termination during an actual scan?!! Especially based on what would be a normal meausurment in the uk. I would switch doctors if possible and get a second opinion ASAP. Good luck with your pregnancy and hope your baby is healthy Flowers

Why would you terminate for DS and not a heart issue, out of interest? Many children with DS thrive, and the children with more complex difficulties who have DS are the ones with heart issues, so I find it interesting that you say you would keep a child with heart issues but terminate if DS was dx. I notice you are in the US, too, so I wonder if things are different there for children with DS?

I have a relative who had a baby the same time as me in the USA. She was incredibly anxious and had lots of conflicting information and testing from the Uk system. Now obviously I don’t know the US system at all, but I feel like it is a lot more anxiety inducing and pushed for medical intervention a lot more when not necessary. Your results sound positive, I think she has stressed you out for nothing to tick boxes and ensure that on the small chance something is not 100% she doesn’t get sued.
Please relax and enjoy your pregnancy. The results are good ❤️

weird .. i was borderline at 3.5mm but test came back low risk and hes here 6 months old and fine.

Thx you! I felt better after doing tons of googling/reading responses. Usually it works opposite and googling makes me feel worse but in this case it helped calm me. I think she was being overly cautious and had horrible bedside manners. That being said I'm going to avoid seeing her again. Hopefully all goes well at 16 week scan if not I'll take it from there.
