32 weeks and I can't sleep!

Hi everyone,

I'm almost 32 weeks and for the life of me can't sleep! I'm so, so tired but as soon as I try to sleep I end up with restless legs/needing a wee/baby kicking/needing to turn over (🐳).

My husband is struggling to sleep too and I think it's because he knows I'm lying there awake for hours on end. I've currently taken myself off to babies nursery with a hot water bottle to sit in the arm chair, hoping to give husband some peace!

I know everyone's in the same boat but I really needed a moan tonight! I think I might actually get more sleep with a newborn..

Anyone got any miracle tricks to share? 🙌🏼

For the restless legs, can you stand on a cold tile floor (bathroom?) I found that really helped. Other than that, no. I stayed up watching endless Netflix with DD. If it's any consolation all of the things keeping me awake vanished literally as soon as she was born and I had the best nights sleep that first night in the hospital.

Are you able to catch up on sleep in the day at all?

36+4 here and afraid to say i have all those symptoms every night, I probably will sleep more when baby's here

BlacknWhitePanda · 22/01/2019 05:34

I am also 36+4. I don't think I've slept properly in weeks.. DH has just got into the habit of spending me for naps in the day (thank god)

Iv been using Clarins leg emulsion just before I go to sleep - it's cold and tingling and really helps with my restless legs.

I also have a banana just before bed, also seems to help me drift off.

I'm 37 weeks and also feel like I'll get more sleep once she's here- I feels ya!

Same here.... 31 weeks been struggling for last few weeks. Husband has been shifted to the couch so I can get as much sleep as possible as along with the uncomfiness he’s started snoring from nowhere 🤦🏾‍♀️

I'm only 24 weeks and only get a few hours a night. Wake up about 5 times to turn, wee or just uncomfortable. Not looking forward to getting bigger!! X

I'm in the same boat. 28 weeks and can never sleep a full night. Either awoken by needing a wee, leg cramps or a baby trying to break out of my uterus! Only thing getting me through is having s sneaky nap when my dd naps. So exhausting!

Reassuring to know I'm not alone! Thanks for your tips! Hope you are all managing to get some sleep..

Try a body pillow if you can - I’ve found it super helpful to get some shut eye. Baby has been super active through the night but I think my body is just like ok whatever go sleep best as possible haha

Hi. 32 weeks here as well and I’ve been struggling lately. Feel like I’m in a half sleep all night, strange dreams, disorientated, uncomfortable, getting up to go for a wee etc. My pregnancy pillow is comfy but I still wake up and it makes me red hot, which then makes me feel a little sicky. Just trying to relax as and when I can, looking forward to maternity leave so I can stay in bed all day!

Jackshouse · 24/01/2019 16:28

I found listening to my hypnobirthing CD always made me fall asleep.

Super duper struggling on the sleep front at the moment! Keep getting back pain at night and having to get up to pee. 29 weeks.

I have the worst restless legs at night too. I saw my midwife today and she said to drink some tonic water as it contains quinine which apparently helps. I haven't tried it yet but will give anything a go. 😊
