I've been referred for physio for SPD, and got my first session tomorrow.

Really excited as I am in a lot of pain so hope it helps!

can anyone shed any light on what I should expect please?

Well my first group session there were only 4 of us (can be up to 30!). The specialist physio gave a presentation on PGP/SPD advice and tips on how to manage it. There was lots of info leaflets given out. I fainted and ended up lying on the couch in her office 😂 So got offered a 1:1 appointment. She was lovely done some work on my pelvis and gave me a tubigrip to wear over my bump! She measured me for a suitable belt and said I could order it online if I wanted. Thankfully I haven't been limping since she done some work. But I'm still aching.

Luckily a friend had one of the belts and lent it to me. You would really only wear it for standing/on your feet a lot. Sitting at a desk it's not comfy. I'm still aching mostly at work but if I get much worse again I can make an appointment to see her.

Don't be afraid to let the physio at the group session know how you're suffering so they'll offer you a 1:1 appointment.

Sorry to be pessimistic but my group session was pants. Basic info on how to sit, lie down and yoga positions you can do. (My mum is a yoga teacher so I knew this all) - I was in horrendous pain and desperately just wanted a 1/1 - had to wait another week for that.

At the 1/1 session she asked me lots of questions, made me do a series of exercises and rate the pain. Then she gave me recommendations and a support belt.

Unfortunately nothing had helped me - but I’ve read lots of people find relief with the physio and osteopath so good luck! 🤞

Just leggings - I didn’t have to strip off. (In underwear for the osteopath)
