Hey
Just wondered if there was anyone on here pregnant with polycyctic ovaries? Very worried as I'm 6+4 today and have pcos and one MMC behind me! Xxx

Me! Never diagnosed as i decided not to be tested but have the excessive hair, terrible acne which i still suffer from and i couldn't say the last time i had an actual period that wasn't more than a few drops of blood. GP said no point in testing as they wouldn't treat it unless i was actively trying to conceive which i wasn't.

However here i am at 24 weeks :-)

Thegirlwithnousername · 20/01/2019 19:27

Me I have PCOS, I have a nearly 3 year old DS and 32 weeks currently.
Congratulations on your pregnancy.
Sorry to hear about your miscarriage Flowers

Kej13 · 20/01/2019 19:35

I'm so glad you two wrote back to me, that's honestly helped me so much!

I only got diagnosed after my mmc so pretty terrified to be honest xxx

Hi I'm 30 weeks with DC2 took 5 years TTC this one! PCOS hasn't impacted the pregnancy thankfully other than I've a high BMI. I had a cyst show up at my first scan at 10 weeks but it was gone by time I had consultant scan at 14 weeks! Glucose tolerance test also came back blood sugars all normal. Try not to worry too much I know it's hard.

Congratulations!!

Thank you ☺️ id just love to go for a 12 week scan and actually see our baby with a heartbeat and leave happy, the things you take for granted hey! I was so naive with my last pregnancy and it's taken us almost 18 months to get here so I reeeeaaalllyyy can't explain how much me and DH want this xx

Tentatively me. Think I'm only about 4 weeks, so incredibly early days atm still. Got the diagnosis of PCOS about a year ago now, then surprisingly conceived naturally shortly afterward (13 months of trying at that point...), but MC around 8 weeks. Ten months later, and it seems the first dose of Clomid has done the trick.

Trying not to let myself get too excited. Just want to make it to 12 weeks (and then all the way to the end after that).

captainshortie · 20/01/2019 23:16

Mee too! Got diagnosed at 14 with PCOS, never bothered with treatment as at the time wasnt even thinking about kids (...obviously)
Flashforward to 23 year old me, got my implant taken out as wanted my "body to get back to me" few month later me and OH decided to start 'trying' for a baby, nothing happend after 6 month, got referred to fertility clinic who were useless. -_-
Decided to not stress and just see what happened.
2 years later and 25 year old me now has a 3 week old ( born new years eve) whos currently winding up for her next feed.
Only issue ive had is she couldnt wait the extra 6 weeks to her due date! (Not meant to be here till feb 5th)

Anyway all happened naturally, didnt even lose any weight, honestly dont stress yourself out, enjoy it :)

SockQueen · 20/01/2019 23:33

Me too! Diagnosed when my cycles were still wildly irregular after a year off the pill. I'd been on hormonal contraception for the previous 10 years and don't have acne/excessive hair, (though my BMI was about 33, I assumed that was because I was lazy/greedy!) PCOS never crossed my mind earlier. TTC #1 for almost 18 months before getting pregnant on my second cycle of Clomid, DS is now 2 and I'm 20 weeks pregnant with DC2, conceived spontaneously!

I wasn't even aware of the slight increase in miscarriage risk with PCOS before having DS, but thankfully it looks like we've been lucky. Hope that this time around goes well for you OP!

minipie · 20/01/2019 23:40

Have you had your thyroid tested OP?

Just a thought, as PCOS often goes with underactive thyroid (they don’t cause each other but seem to be part of the same “family” of hormonal issues iyswim) and underactive thyroid can cause miscarriage if untreated.

Kej13 · 21/01/2019 13:03

Hey
Yeah thyroid is fine, I've had that tested

Just trying to get myself into a place where I feel like actually having a baby is a possibility for us! Xxx

I'm 14 weeks with PCOS - last pregnancy ended in MMC which was horrific but we've conceived pretty quickly both times. I have a high BMI (over 40) and excess hair growth etc - also acne but that seems to be clearing up with age. I'm still terrified, especially after googling (not a good idea) but touch wood all is ok atm. Just awaiting my nuchal testing results.

Rapunzelrella · 21/01/2019 13:12

Although not pregnant at the moment, I have pcos (diagnosed years ago... no medication to manage it) and have a 5year old and a 2 year old. I did have break through bleeding while pregnant which was unexplained and could have been related. Hope that may be reassuring that its definitely possible.

Springmummy19 · 21/01/2019 13:12

I was tested for it but was told it was 'inconclusive' ut I have all the symptoms. Was put on metformin in March last year to help balance out my hormones and help me get pregnant. I'm now 27+1

My only issue now is that I have GD and they say PCOS plus stopping the metformin is causing a spike to my sugar levels. I've been put back on the metformin and it has been down and fingers crossed it stays down

Congratulations to you, having a baby with PCOS is very much possible, maybe harder to get there but very much possible. Just try to enjoy the journey as much as you can. x

Me!
Got diagnosed about 2 years ago, would have been useful if I'd been diagnosed before I had my son (he's 4) as I would have at least known how long it was going to take. Had my son after 5 years of trying.
Now I'm 12+3 with baby no. 2 - this time round it was much more difficult. It's taken less time (about 2.5 years) but my treatment was intense. I went on Metformin - they often prescribe this to ladies with PCOS to help regulate your periods a bit. Mine were pretty much non-existant at one point. I then had a laparoscopy (second one) and finally 4 months of Clomid treatment. It was the 4th cycle that I finally fell pregnant. Didn't believe it was real for aged - but had our 12 week scan this morning and practically balled my eyes out when I saw our baby on the screen. My PCOS symptoms don't seem to be do bad at the moment, not sure if its to do with pregnancy hormones taking over - I'm sure all the fun will be back once baby is here. Although I'm thinking of going back to GP to go back on Metformin after baby is here. All the best with your pregnancy. x

explodingkitten · 21/01/2019 14:06

PCOS, type 1 diabetic, benign 8cm tumor in my thyroid (I didn't win the health lottery obviously). A few early miscarrisges and an ectopic pregnancy. Now 10 weeks pregnant after years of fertility treatments. I sooooo don't take this for granted. Already had 2 scans and it looked good but you know what? It only reassures me for about a day.

Kej13 · 21/01/2019 17:20

@explodingkitten I get that 100%. I want a scan a week haha 😂 I will have as many as we can though just to try and ease my mind. We've got a lot going on right now, I've just got a new job and we've just bought our first house and now I'm pregnant so I hope it all comes together for us.

I definitely am not taking this for granted, 2 years and one MMC has been more than enough for us I don't know how much more I could cope with! I have some serious respect for you guys on here 💕 xxxxx

I don’t have PCOS but I do have PCO. My blood hormone levels were fine when tested but when I had an internal scan (due to being triple digits between periods and continuous positive OPKs) it showed both ovaries were severely polycystic.

I’m currently on the sofa feeding my two week old daughter. Just to give a positive story, I was so worried what issues it could cause but thankfully we had a fairly uneventful pregnancy. Good luck and hope you have a smooth pregnancy :)

Kej13 · 22/01/2019 06:42

That's an amazing story thank you so much 💕💕 did you have many pregnancy symptoms early? I had the normal cramping and sore boobs and all that over the weekend and was very sick (not actually sick but nausea) which seems to have died down yesterday so I don't know if that's a good thing or not?

pandechocolate · 22/01/2019 10:00

I don't have PCOs, but I have endo. I am 19 weeks today.

I have friends with PCOs, all of them have several children and went through fairly normal pregnancies :)

sumtash · 22/06/2022 11:35

@Angelmiracle did you use any medication please share been ttc for 3years but nothing yet feeling very disappointed

Potatomashed · 22/06/2022 11:40

Me! There’s a fab podcast about PCOS and pregnancy by the PCOS nutritionist, I really recommend it because she goes through all of the things we might be at higher risk of and what we can do to reduce them. With DC1 I followed it and had a mostly straightforward pregnancy and birth
