Period pain at 30 weeks- because of spd/pgp bandage??

I’m officially 30 weeks today and for the last 6 or so weeks my hip and pelvis pain has been getting progressively worse. I’ve seen the physio twice. What started off as me thinking I’d put my back out (a not infrequent occurance over the last couple of years) has turned into pain that’s making it difficult to sleep and walk. I was given a large tubigrip style bandage by the physio about a month or so ago but I really disliked the sensation of it against my stomach. The last week however has been awful, ending on Friday with me walking and feeling my legs getting further apart as my pelvis presumably loosened again at the front. So yesterday and today I’ve put the bandage back on and I can feel the difference when I’m wearing it. For one I’m no longer afraid that sneezing will be painful. But I’ve had to take it off this evening as I’ve got pretty much constant period type pain. I’ve been in pain A LOT over the last few weeks, I’ve pathetically cried quite a lot because of it, and I have an appointment with my doctor on Tuesday to ask for some proper pain relief as paracetamol isn’t touching it and I can’t go much longer being unable to sleep and afraid to walk too far in case my legs stop working. But the period pain is new and it’s worrying me. It’s not contraction type waves, just a constant ache. Is this likely to be caused by the pressure from the bandage? Or do I need to speak to someone? Thanks. Sorry for the essay.

I would certainly seek professional advice not only from your GP but perhaps the midwife unit where they can check the baby? - I personally haven’t found GPs very good on pregnancy issues.

I find my belt uncomfortable- definitely have to take it off to sit down so it doesn’t dig in and it’s no help wearing in bed - it’s so so painful getting out of bed BUT I can’t imagine it ever being tight enough to cause the pains you described. It’s more a digging in pain which leaves when I take it off.

So defo get medical advice for your peace of mind!

Sorry I meant to say... my physio said it’s not good to wear the belt for too long - are you wearing it all day?

I just got one on Wednesday. Im 30+2. Physio done something with my SI joints which have actually stopped me limping on my right leg for now. But after wearing tubigrip all day and taking it off I get a dull low down cramp too! It worried me the first night but I think it is just things settling back to place after wearing it all day. I didn't put it on yesterday morning and then needed it in afternoon so it must help a bit - I wasn't convinced if it was!

Today I put it on and with my high trouser waistband I felt like I couldn't get a breath so kept it off. So first day not wearing it but was at home all day and I can manage better at home.

You sound like you're in an awful lot of pain I hope you can get co-codomal or something better to help. Being at work sat at a desk is real agony for me.

Thanks both. I don’t find it uncomfortable to sit down in, but the physio said she wouldn’t give me the more structured belt with Velcro as it was notoriously uncomfortable so I just have a large doubles up bandage tube. I’m not sleeping in it, but night time is when I seem to be worst, when I get up I can’t bear weight on my leg as my hip feels so painful. Sleeping on my back seems to be helping this a little but then I worry as you’re not meant to do that either. It might be worth only putting the bandage on when I really need to go out, and taking it off at home maybe. The prospect of the next ten weeks being pretty much house bound is getting me down though, I’m used to being fairly active. I’ve not slept a lot tonight and have had some pretty big Braxton Hicks so I think I’ll call my midwife in the morning. It doesn’t help that I feel she’s making light of my mobility problems. She seems to treat any concerns as a bit of a joke Sad
