Hi,

My DS picked up a nasty cough from nursery a couple of weeks ago. I've since caught it. It's making my life a misery. My bump literally aches from the pressure and getting barely any sleep at night from both me my DS waking regularly for lengthy bouts of coughing. My fear is I've hear it can last about a month. Yep so potentially I could have it for labour!! Shock any tips for easing. Or what I can take. My bump literally aches as do my shoulders. It's very sticky and can't clear it, not anything like I've had before. Driving me bonkers

Thanks Mumsnetters x

I’ve got a cough atm which isn’t too bad but I had one just before Christmas which was awful so you have my sympathies.

I took some children’s cough syrup (can’t rememver which brand sorry but I know it was safe during pregnancy as it said it on the label). Lots of honey and lemon.

It did go but I remember coughing so much I was sick and the bump hurting :(

Inhaling steam can help relieve a cough. I think Vicks is safe in pregnancy so you could add that to a bowl of hot water and breathe in the steam.

Much sympathy. I had a chest infection in my last pregnancy and coughed my way through a C section.

Oh wow. A chest infection? God I was feeling sorry for myself with a cough. I have had a chest infection in past and was really poorly. Can't imagine that during pregnancy.

I will try the kiddies cough syrup and the vicks plus steam. Many thanks both. Xx
