Hi, I'm only 12 weeks but for a while now my hips are going numb and/or painful when I sleep on them, especially on my left which I prefer to sleep on. I was wondering if a pregnancy pillow would alleviate this and what ones people recommend?

DPs friend highly recommends a Simba Hybrid pillow.

I bought this for my gf, I know it's pricey but it can be folded in different ways to help with back support and breast feeding etc.

I have a Dreamgeanii one. Using it now for my second too :)

Thanks everyone. I'm very tempted by your suggestion @Hartfordhq as those giant pillows always look so comfy! @8daysaweek I don't have a bump yet, do you think the dreamgenii would still work for me (for the hip pain) now?

My gf wanted it for the safe reason before bump started forming and now wants to keep using it long after our lil one is eventually born. I'm not as fond I Bearley have enough space to lay on my back on the edge of our double bed when it's in the bed XD

We have a super king so DH should be ok! Grin

Yeah definitely! I use mine solely for my hips too and it's great. I've never had one that has the long pillow on both sides so can't compare. But I don't like feeling too "trapped" in bed so like the Dreamgeanii for this reason as well.

Triskaidekaphilia · 20/01/2019 12:36

I don't think I'd feel trapped with a bigger pillow as I like being quite tucked in, but I do like to have my head on a normal pillow! I'll probably end up buying one and then needing the other! Confused

I found just a normal pillow between my knees was enough for support at 12 weeks. I have a dreamgenii and I loved it once my bump grew (and now at 29 weeks it's amazing!) but I didn't find it comfy for my hips when my bump was small. It took me a while to figure out where I liked to position the dreamgenii though so maybe that was the problem early on!

Triskaidekaphilia · 21/01/2019 11:46

I've tried a normal pillow between my knees, tucked under my side, and under the actual hip which works for about 5 minutes then it starts to hurt again. It must be something to do with my shape or the way my weight's distributed. I'm hoping one of the full body pillows would essentially take some of my weight so the hip is under less pressure?
