I’m in my first trimester & looking for book recommendations. Currently reading Clemmie Hooper’s ‘How to grow a baby & push it out’ & really enjoying it!

Also read Giovanna Fletcher’s ‘Happy Mum, Happy Baby’ which I would recommend, along with her podcast series.

Please send your recommendations my way :)

I really enjoyed Bumpology by Linda Geddes, and currently reading The Positive Birth Book by Milli Hill which is great :-)

Hi,

I also read How to grow a baby and Happy mum. I’m currently third trimester and I’m reading The blissful baby expert. I love it and it has great reviews, it’s a parenting book rather than a pregnancy one but it’s made me feel so much calmer and more prepared.

Another fan of "how to grow a baby here". But I also like "What to expect when you're expecting" - a huge amount of information with not too much bias or agenda. More of a manual but very useful.

Your Baby Your Birth by Hollie De Cruz changed my whole outlook on birth - went from being slightly fearful to confident and almost excited for it to start!

Loved Clemmie's book too!

Two that I really liked were Expecting Better, and Breastfeeding Made Simple

Emily Oster “expecting better” is brilliant - evidence based and well written. I had that and bumpology which was fine but only ever skimmed the surface whereas expecting better went into more detail, which I preferred.

Bump by Kate Evans - it's a comic strip-style book but with loads of information. She did a breastfeeding one that's good too.

Also Life After Birth by Kate Figes - no holds barred but gives you an understanding of how the experience can be a bit like being run over by a juggernaut!

My advice would be to read about things like baby care and adjusting to having a baby as much as about labour. Birth is important but it doesn't last that long and then you're straight into having a newborn!
