free/cheap baby clothes?

Hi guys, I'm getting more and more desperate for baby clothes now
Last time round we had loads handed down to us from friends and family etc but this time round (after giving our friends loads of clothes for their new little ones) they've given them on to other friends (despite the fact that we told EVERYONE we were trying for another!!)
We've tried Freecycle (and are still trying every couple of weeks) but as the days and weeks go past it's getting too close!!
Any info you have would be a great help!
I've been looking on Ebay, which, you'd think would be a great idea but, everyone on there seems to be selling one piece at a time (not many bundles etc) and the postage is excruciatingly high (maybe they all live a million miles from their PO!!) so it turns into a waste of time, (especially if you've got a buget of about £20 to work with!!)
Any ideas?!!
Sorry it's a bit of a rant!! lol
Thanks

I would make them too but fabrics are more expensive the smaller the item you're making lol

Have you tried car boot sales? I got around 20 items of newborn stuff for £2.00 as well as a baby bath and stand for £1.50 last week. I also pick up lots of bits from charity shops.

JARM · 30/06/2007 18:44

im off to car boot tomorrow to check out baby clothes as we are in the same situation!

Jumble sales can also be good - keep a look out in the local paper. I went to one a few weeks ago and came back with some amazing stuff from Monsoon, Gap, Next etc in great condition and 20p per item!

kyala · 30/06/2007 18:48

Yeah, there's not a lot in this area (although there's one in a couple of weeks, will try that opne, but there's more old folk round here than you can throw a stick at, they'd only wave their sticks at you!! LOL)
Tends to be a bit of a fuddy's get together if there ever is a car boot here LOL

I love charity shops but as far as baby clothes go they think they're in the running with top range designers LOL
See if I can haggle them down LOL
Thanks for the suggestion, I might just have to resort to trekking further afield (we practically live IN a field LOL)

You are given the option when you set up your profile to have your location displayed - you must have chosen to have it display your postcode when you set it up. You can go back into it and change that, and as it gives your address away I think you probably should!

Are you having a boy or girl?
I need to sell some boys bits.

bagsundereyes · 30/06/2007 19:57

I've got some stuff you can have for post and packing costs. Some neutral but mostly girls stuff - do you know the baby's sex?

It's not fancy stuff mind - all supermarket stuff. And my LO is really windy, so the backs are all bobbly from too much rubbing.

Gingerbear · 30/06/2007 20:01

I am just about to send a bundle of baby girl clothes and some neutral coloured (yellow, cream, white etc) newborn stuff off to the charity shop - for the cost of P&P you are welcome to have it all.
email me at dleafe at hotmail dot co dot uk

kyala · 30/06/2007 20:23

That's great! Thanks Gingerbear
I'm expecting a girl (as much as you can expect from a scan where the radiographer says "Hmmm well. . . a . . . girl?" LOL

Is it poss to IM someone on here?
If not I can give you a hotmail address Bagsundereyes?
I don't mind either way?
Yeah let me know LOL
Thanks again guys

Do you mind leaving your email here K? Mine's my full name so I'd really rather not .

wheniamqueen · 30/06/2007 21:56

In primark you can get 7 baby vests for £5 thats what i did, also check newspaper ads etc and charity shops can also be good. Good luck!

Uki · 01/07/2007 04:47

When are you due Kyala?

I an due Aug 15th and probably have more than I need.

Totally sympathise with you and the giving stuff away, after I had my first i tried to give as much as i could or lend to others (even though i knew I'd have another) No one has offered any thing back and what i did lend came back in shitty condition and unwashed- carry cot, bouncer, bassinette, etc. Not only that i had to pick it up myself and almost beg to borrow one thing of theirs. (not that I'm bitter

my advice to anyone else, be careful if you might like to use it again.
good luck kayla

Bienchen · 01/07/2007 05:04

Have got a bundle of neutral/baby girl clothes. Some newborn but mainly 0-3months. Only used on one baby and all bought/given this year. Mainly vests and sleepsuits and a few "pretty outfits". Also socks and bibs and blanket. Could also do baby bath and top and tail box. Would use a courier and bundle it all up in baby bath if you are interested.
Items in good/ vg condition (some not even worn as we were given a lot). Let me know if interested

Jbck · 01/07/2007 13:59

Asda are doing some v cheap multi-packs of baby stuff, just got 3 vests for £1.75 & 3 sleepsuits which was priced £3.75 but came up £1.75 at the till, think it must have been a mistake tho'. These were all white but I think they're doing blues & pinks too. Bought a few more unisex wee things but hanging off till baby is born to buy much else, will just get enough clothes to get us throught the first couple of weeks. Last time we were inundated with gifts & although this is my second & you tend not to be given as much I'm sure it'll do us for a while.

kyala · 01/07/2007 21:11

Brill! Thanks guys this is great!!
My Email address is madsid07 at yahoo dot co dot uk, for those who are willing to give me stuff (many thanks!!)
And will def try Asda and Primark (next time we can get to Southampton that is, I always forget about those places due to stupid massive stores like Tesco arguing majorly against us getting an Asda in Salisbury !!)
We've got all the major bits (cot bath etc due to having a little bit of space and the majority of friends wanting the fancy bits new it was just the bin bags of clothes that got taken LOL)
Many thanks again for all your advice and help, it's definately got my faith going again!!
