How long after losing mucus plug to go into labour?

Today I am 40+6 and I'm booked in to start the induction process on Monday. I have had three sweeps so far, one yesterday when I was told I was 1cm dilated (the same as at the previous two) but my cervix was softening. I have just been to the loo and I think I've lost my mucus plug. Can I expect anything to happen, and how soon? I'd resigned myself to induction so this has given me some hope that I may go into labour naturally before then.

I lost my mucus plug and went into labour that same day! So good luck !

It's one of those things that mean labour could be imminent or two weeks away. For me it was the latter!
Both my babies were born very close to the 42 week mark, are they just inducing you because you are over due, if so you can leave it a bit later if you want to go into labor naturally. The cervix stuff sounds promising.

Flowers for you OP, got everything crossed for you that labour starts soon.

Lost mine on the Friday afternoon, labour started overnight Friday/Saturday night (about 2am ish when I realised what it was!), baby born Saturday afternoon.

Good luck!

About 6 or so hours for me! Best of luck.

Lost mine on the Thursday night/Friday morning and went into labour Friday evening. Baby wasn't born until the Monday but that's a whole different battle!

Thanks everyone I lost it about 1pm and have been having mild period pains and tightenings but nothing too noticeable. I hope this is the start of something. I have another (fourth!) sweep tomorrow at 10am.

What does early labour feel like? I was hoping this was it but think it's too mild.

Lost and went into labour the next day— early labour was very mild cramping

I lost mine in the morning and my baby was born in the evening. It started with very mild cramping. Good luck!

Lost the first part on Friday, the second part on Tuesday and baby was born on Thursday.

Early labour was low level uncomfortable intermittent cramps that gradually escalated. One of the best pieces of advice I had was "don't participate until you have to" - if your body is gearing up then just let it do its thing, rest and eat well. When it kicks in enough for you to need to do something, you'll know.

Good luck!

I delivered baby within 24 hours of loosing mine.

bertiesgal · 18/01/2019 22:58

5 pm Mucus plug
7pm Regular contractions
9pm Admitted to labour ward as 4cm dilated
2pm (the next day) DD was placed on my chest 😍

Good luck OP

Caveat-dreadful delivery but don’t think that was related to the mucus plug 😂

Notreallyhere2 · 18/01/2019 23:01

Yes mine started as light cramps (hence why it took me so long to realise!). Eventually I got a bit freaked out that I was imagining labour and bought one of those apps where you can time the length and intensity (but it was the middle of the night and I don’t make rational decisions at that time, I was supposed to be being all calm and zen about it according to my plans!)
