Washing Clothes

Morning!

With my first I washed everything in Fairy Non Bio and used Fairy fabric softener. I had to use my usual Ariel and fabric softener for OH because he is allergic to anything else. I done this maybe for the first year and then just washed everything with the Ariel etc.

My question is - is the non bio washing in the first year etc necessary?? If so then I don't mind doing it but if I could wash using the same detergent it would make my life much easier!

Thanks

The jury is out on that one but you shouldn’t use fabric conditioner as that is likely to irritate babies skin.

Unless you have a family history of allergy or skin sensitivity then just use normal detergent- whatever you use for the rest of the family.

@Jackshouse I didn't know that. I thought it was the biological detergent that was supposed to irritate it. I suppose that would be the same with all softener.

Washing powder is rinsed out of clothes but the fabric conditioner mostly stays on the clothes.

Non-bio doesn't exist in other countries so I'd stick with whatever you normally use. Three people in our house can't tolerate Fairy, it gives them a rash.

I would avoid fabric conditioner and do an extra spin after the wash is done, if you don’t already do this

After a couple of weeks I just washed everything in bio powder and whatever softener we already used. I like comfort pure/fairy softener so used that anyway

@Jackshouse Makes sense!

Thanks everyone.

Ive used fairy for years now, but if i dont buy that i always buy a non-bio powder. Same as the fabric conditioner, always buy non-bio. Ive found bio tends to flare up my partners eczema and makes his skin a lot worse. So we tend to stick to that. As long as you wash heavily soiled clothing at at least 60c, then that will kill the bacteria.
