Due in April. Was reluctant to buy a maternity winter coat but it's getting so cold and I can't fasten/zip up my existing coats anymore! Has anyone found any nice ones that don't cost the earth?

I've got one from Mother and Nature, it wasn't cheap, but is waterproof which most I found werent, it has zips to expand it and can be zipped up again after baby is born to fit your normal size. I love mine.

I got an asos one off eBay. I don't see the point in buying new, though when it came it still had the tags on!

Maybe check out Primark or sales elsewhere for a non maternity but larger than your usual size.

There is, of course, eBay. As a size 16 (or more?), I find there’s not much that appeals to me in my size, but there are plenty of very cheap ones. (I did buy a gorgeous green corduroy size 14 coat, but it won’t fit me if I wear more than just a top. Pregnancy is not the time to be optimistic about what you can squeeze into!!)

In the end, I went to Seraphine, because we happened to be working in Leeds. DH bought me a babywearing coat, which also has a lot of leeway for maternity wear, because it is specifically designed that way. It’s currently reduced to £129 in the sales: www.seraphine.com/en-gb/3-in-1-winter-maternity-parka.html

It’s definitely not cheap. But I should get a lot of wear from mine if I do manage the babywearing thing. Also, there’s a 10% off your first order if you give them your email address thing going on. And the coat is lovely - one of my favourite things at the moment.

(Sorry if half of this is the opposite of what you want.)

H&M have some with adjustable waists that look as though they could be worn at any stage including after birth.

I got a lovely smart wool one 2nd hand off Ebay. With a baby due in April, if you get a baby wearing coat I'd get one that is either thin or zips into 2 separate layers or it'll be too hot.

I got a maternity parka from gap. It wasn't beautiful but it kept me warm and dry.

I’ve got one from Asda. £30 and comes with a zip in panel to expand it when you get bigger. I’ve been wearing it the last month or so (I’m 13 weeks now) and I like it as it’s a good long bum coverer (I’m a giant and struggle with cold bum syndrome!). Not the beat quality of all time but lots of choice of colours and styles. Can’t really go wrong for £30

Cheap easy but less stylish solution if you already have a/several zip up costs is the zip us in panel zipusin.co.uk

I got one in my first pregnancy, DH and I wore it with DD in a sling and it is still going strong. It generally lives in a cheap ski jacket in winter and a lightweight waterproof in summer.

I got one from jojomamanbebe. It's basically a normal parka style coat with an extra panel to zip into the front when you need some extra space. I love it as it is just a normal coat when you remove the extra panel so I can use it after baby is born.

I got a parka type with a waist drawstring from Sainsbury's. Not maternity, just three sizes up from my normal size. Did me through 2 pregnancies for £15.

I picked up a teddy coat which is nice and chunky and keeping me warm - At the moment one button works haha. The other coat I got was a teddy one too but more of an A shape to allow room for bump - that one is good so far too. For rain I’ve been throwing on a pac a Mac thin top with layers as I feel suffocated in chunky coats. Had seen some nice ones on eBay that were new and maternity specific.

I was the same but post Xmas I couldn’t do my buttons up. I found a non-maternity coat in the M&S sale that does the job for £24. I had to go up three sizes from my usual size but it fits, with a bit of extra space to grow (34 weeks now)!

Thanks all! I took the plunge and ordered one from H&M in the sale! I'm not sure if it will be very warm but it sounds like it will at least have room for layering - my current coats can't accommodate extra layers now!
