Planning to breastfeed, do I still need to buy a steriliser?

I'd like to try breastfeeding but was wondering if I still need to buy a steriliser and bottles too in case I'm not able to. Should I buy it all before baby is born or wait until he is here and see?

Milton tablets are brilliant. You can take them on holiday in your carry-on, and also sterilise even oddly shaped things that wouldn't fit in a steriliser. Mine are at primary school and I still use them for thermos flask valves, sports water bottles and reusable coffee cup lids to get rid of that black crud that seems to come out of nowhere.

Following with interest as I'm pregnant with my first and had the same thought. I do plan to get some bottles etc in case I want to express and let DH do some of the feeding, and had also planned to get some formula to have in handy, just in case I can't bf or struggle for whatever reason.
My friend suggested to have some premade formula bottles just in case I do have trouble breast feeding and don't have to do a panic trip to the supermarket in the middle of the night or something if I don't have any alternative in the house. I plan to definitely at least have a few of these in, if I don't get anything else.
Don't know if that's helpful?

Just but Milton solution. Cheaper if you're planning on bf and won't need it a lot!

In our modern society where we have 24hr shops and Amazon Prime, I really don't see the need to buy things "just in case" that can be readily purchased on short notice. We consume too much as it is!

I've BF two babies but I had to go back to work so I did buy a sterilizer. But I waited until BF was established with my first before I purchased a pump as I wasn't sure I'd use it.

No it would be a waste of money. If you really need emergency bottles there’s plenty of 24 hour supermarkets or amazon prime. I think it’s setting BFing up to fail already having the ‘back up’ ready to go.
