Missed miscarriage

I had a missed miscarriage back in Early November and just want some advice on how long it normally takes for your cycle to become regular again. Prior to the miscarriage, I’d had a mirena coil which meant I never had a period in 3 years. Since the miscarriage I have been so irregular and I’m struggling to find a pattern in my cycles. I know it’s still early but I’m really eager to start trying again. Should I be waiting longer or should I start trying now and just see what happens? I don’t have any of my own children and this was my first pregnancy. I have a gorgeous Step-daughter but I feel so empty now and want to try again as soon as possible. Any advice would be really appreciated.

I went normal right away but my doctor made me go on birth control pills, so it helped regulate my cycle. I have pcos so I often need hormones to regulate it.

Was your miscarriage by pill or operation? Because I've heard the ones who take a pill take far longer to recover from it than those who have an operation.

Have you done blood tests to see if all of the hcg is out of your body?

You could go on the pill for 21 days, like I did after my surgery, and then after you have gotten your period you can try that cycle?

Should be nothing wrong with trying as long as your body (and mind) seems fine.

I miscarried with a pessary - most awful experience ever - I had taken a pill in the past found it difficult with my own hormones. I became really moody and lost all libido on many of the brands I tried. Maybe I will try it again though and see if anything is different. I just worry that if I’m not in a cycle; I won’t get pregnant again?

Never heard of it being done that way. Sorry that sounds horrible Flowers. Would the side effects be that bad if it's only 21 days? I think you should speak to your doctor and let them know about your irregular periods. Also don't expect to get pregnant right away, even though it's now you want it more than ever. Some are lucky and get pregnant fast, but I'm literally near my would-be due date and only just got pregnant again.

Goldie15 · 17/01/2019 19:54

Maybe wouldn’t be too bad if only for 21. I’m trying not to get my hopes up to fall pregnant quickly, but it is hard. You’re right, it is all I want and sometimes it’s the only thing I can think about. I’m sure my time will come. Thank you x

Again, hear what your GP has to say about everything. You're welcome, it'll happen when it's meant to happen Flowers hopefully sooner rather than later 🍀

It took about 6 months for my cycles to regulate after my MMC which I was told isn’t unusual. In hindsight I would have gone on the pill briefly to try and sort this as it was really difficult when I just so wanted to get pregnant again.Im sorry for your loss OP,it was a really tough time and I felt like I couldn’t trust my body due to feeling exactly the same when pregnant as I did with my daughter.

The first month I was able to predict I would ovulate I got pregnant again and am now 7 months along.

Sorry for your loss. I had a mmc in June at 14 weeks, I'm currently 24 weeks now. I didn't want to go on birth control at all as we were trying for a baby and it ruined my hormones previously. I just relaxed, had a drink again, made plans but one thing I believe that helped was pregnacare trying for a baby it has an ingredient in it which encourages ovulation, I got a positive opk 4 days later and ended up pregnant. (Guessing it would regulate cycles too) Goodluck xx

starlightmagic · 18/01/2019 08:20

I had a Mmc back at the very end of July and my cycles only regulated in December!

OutPinked · 18/01/2019 08:54

I’m sorry for your loss Flowers. I didn’t wait to try after my missed miscarriages, just waited for the initial bleeding to stop then went ahead. I got pregnant three months after both of the MMC’s and now have an 11 week old as a result of the third go if you like Smile.

Goldie15 · 18/01/2019 20:53

Thanks everyone Flowers I’m going to start taking Pregnacare and leave it a few more months before resorting to going on the pill. Fingers crossed, I can try and get myself back regular without having to use a contraceptive that I already hate! Thanks again x

@Goldie15 If you're not sure about cycles but want to start trying, you can always just do ovulation tests. It might be a stab in the dark but then at least it takes the guess work out once you catch it

ButtonTum · 18/01/2019 21:32

I had a MMC In November also and found out I am pregnant a week ago. I had been poas constantly for ov and it seems to have worked!

Understand if that's not the way to go for you. And I'm sorry you went thru it, it's rubbish x

Hi

Sorry to jump on this feed. I am new to this so apologies. I had a missed miscarriage in mid november at 11 weeks 6 days which required surgical management a week later. I had heavy bleeding for 3 weeks after. I went back to hospital to discover I still had pregnancy tissue retained. I took the tablets to remove remaining tissue. This did not work but advised by hospital staff that remaining tissue was 0.5cm and would come away next period which would be soon as i was about to ovulate according to their Ultrasound. 7 days later on 20th Dec period arrived it was medium flow and not as painful as i expected. I thought this was great as I could TTC again soon. I got positive ovulation on clear blue advanced ovulation on 4th January and felt ovulation that evening. Prior to MC i had a regular 26 day cycle. My period is now 2 days late... I have blue veins on my chest (got previous pregnancies)...i feel sick and mood is awful. I did a HPT yesterday and got a negative. So why is my period late?? Help before i actually go insane :(

Sprintfinish · 19/01/2019 01:11

I had a mmc in November 2017 and my cycle was back to normal by start of 2018. I was pregnant by April and gave birth in December. This time last year I felt similar to how you describe. I had read that you were more fertile after a mc, thankfully seemed to be the case!

HelloViroids · 19/01/2019 01:21

Hi @Goldie15, can’t really be helpful but just wanted to join and say I understand and empathise Flowers I had a MMC in July, and went back on the pill a few weeks later as I was told I may have complications and was advised not to try again until cleared. Finally got the all clear in Nov and so have been trying since then but my cycles are very erratic. Also started on Pregnacare then, but it does seem to be making my cycles a few days longer (which seems common from Googling). I also have a step daughter who I love but just want one of my own, and it’s so hard Sad

chocolatecake08 · 22/01/2019 20:41

@Goldie15

I had a missed miscarriage 24/10/18 and surgical management 2/11/18 i then had a period on the 9th of December which was longer than usual, im now pregnant and everything seems healthy. If you have stopped bleeding and feel ready, then just try my advice is just enjoy the time with your partner and it will happen don't stress about ovulation tests etc. Good luck xx

Random2468 · 24/01/2019 07:41

Hi @Goldie15 I had a MMC in October and surgical management. It took until early December to get my first period which was heavier and shorter than usual. We've been having unprotected sex ever since my bleeding stopped after surgery and still no bfp yet. My second cycle was the shortest I've ever had (26days) and I'm now CD 12 of cycle 3 and trying to take a more relaxed approach
