Hi

Can anyone recommend a good practitioner - that has actually relieved your pelvic pain?

thanks!

you need a physio not a quack

physicskate · 17/01/2019 12:57

Check recommendations on the pelvic partnership website. They're on there because multiple other women have had some success with those practitioners.

I've had zero success with physio.

le42 · 17/01/2019 13:18

Try Ayshe at The Backbone in Muswell Hill

magdela · 17/01/2019 16:25

It's more east than north but I went to see Simon at Wanstead Osteopath www.wansteadosteopaths.co.uk/ and he was brilliant, I needed two sessions but am completely pain free at 37 weeks (compared to literally unable to hobble down the road at 32).

CatToddlerUprising · 17/01/2019 16:27

Don’t go to a chiropractor! Maybe a physio or a physio that specialises in pregnancy

Ringsender2 · 17/01/2019 16:40

I can't recommend someone in your area, but I can second osteopathy for pelvic issues. I used to float out of my sessions (post-pg treatment )

Make sure you find someone who specialises in pg women.

HJ82 · 17/01/2019 19:31

@le42 great that's local! Did he sort you out? I am usually a physio person but for this I want hard manipulation as my right hip is out, I can feel it!!

Fantastic osteopath - David Charlaff - very knowledgeable and cautious about pregnancy, recommended to me by a GP who couldn't help with my three-month headache in early pregnancy. David sorted it out with manipulation and acupuncture. So not PGP, but he is very experienced.

HJ82 · 17/01/2019 19:34

@physicskate nice to see you! Hope you're getting on well! I've looked there earlier but no one close by and I'm reluctant to go central with the mat leave saving budget !! £125 a consultation 😣

Osteopath's get an additional qualification to work on pregnant woman. My amazing one is in Windsor so probably too far out.

The physio was useless tools me to take the stairs one step at a time (ignoring that I'd said I had to go up and down on by bum as could barely cope with walking or laying down) gave me crutches that was it!!! Osteo worked on stretching my overnight muscles and soft tissue that was all pulling on my pelvic cage and making it so much worse.

HJ82 · 17/01/2019 20:15

@magdela thank you, it's a bit far but sound worth it!! My pain is coming and going so not even sure it's pgp or just general muscle aches from stretching etc. The magnesium worked for a few days but it's coming back here and there so I think I need a bit of manipulation 🙂

@RandomMess yeah I much prefer osteo for something that doesn't require a long term physical exercise programme, physio saved me when my disc went a couple years back but that was a Long rehab injury. I think osteo will be better for this, which is why I didn't mention physio in the subject. Osteos do very similar work to chiro in my experience, unless you get a cranial osteo. But I don't need healing on an energy level, I need rubbing 😂

Elbow in the buttock works wonders from memory 😬

RandomMess · 17/01/2019 20:30

Just checking that you know the "physio" for SPD us rest, rest, rest oh and rest!

AlsoBling2 · 17/01/2019 20:32

Sounds like you have found one but if you willing yo.come. into city, king clinic on threadneadle (or downhill?) Are excellent. Don is good and he usually has a second chiro on staff. Not sure who currently but I have often seen the other chiro and had excelle t experiences. Helped with my spd when having to commute.

AlsoBling2 · 17/01/2019 20:33

Cornhill. Auto correct. Sorry.

le42 · 17/01/2019 20:43

Hi - @HJ82 Ayshe is lovely and well versed in treating pregnancy, she also does accupuncture if you need that. Unfortunately nothing has worked for me.... I had very flexible hips before pregnancy with a slight curve in my spine which means my pelvis isn’t symmetrical - I’ve has a dreadful time since being pregnant with pelvic pain and the entire area is very unstable. It feels better immediately after an appointment but then the next day I’m in a bad way again. Physio has been zero help! At least an osteopath does hands on manipulation and works into the area.... the physio just said don’t sit crossed legged 🙄 and try to rest.

So very long winded message.... but even though nothing fixed me.... I would still recommend you see her!

HJ82 · 17/01/2019 20:54

@tdm1 fab thanks, I'll inquire as that's close 🙂

@le42 😣 sounds horrible! Im so sorry nothings worked! It can be debilitating huh.. I'm only 18 weeks so I'm just conscious about getting on top of this now! I hope it passes and doesn't get worse. I'll def contact her as acupuncture always works for me, so a combo of manipulation and muscle work whilst reducing inflammation would be perfect!! Thank you

My osteopath during pregnancy for
PGP was Alexia Lescure- she also successfully induced me (acupressure) when I was overdue. She was practicing in north London last I checked- hang on and I’ll get a link... she’s amazing

TheSheepofWallSt · 17/01/2019 21:01

brackenburyclinic.com/hammersmith/practitioners/alexia-lescure/
Also practising in Pimlico.
I love her- tell her the woman from the boat, who was quite fit and very responsive to therapy- who she induced when she was a week over- sent you and sends her love and eternal gratitude.

le42 · 17/01/2019 21:01

@HJ82 no problem! I’m 39 weeks now and I’ve just lost hope! But wishing you good luck!

I just remembered she practices in Southgate and Muswell Hill so not sure what’s closer to you?

Her prices are a lot more reasonable than central London too!
