Nail varnish - c section

Hi - might be a stupid question but do you need to remove toe polish if you have a c section? I have shellac on fingers and toes which the hospital won’t be able to remove themselves unless they are very patient 😅

Should I get this removed?

You will need to have it taken off your fingers, yes - they need to be able to use a finger clip pulse ox monitor.

I haven't had mine yet (29/01) however my sister took her fingernails off but didn't think about her toes and when went in for her section they made her take them off x

Thank you ladies - it’s really hard to get this nail varnish off so I better pop into the salon I think

I had shellac on and it wasn't a problem for me

Maybe just ask your midwife etc before you do it. Would be a shame to get rid if not needed x

Mine was removed by a nurse when I went into labour early. I think they took it off my toe nails as well as finger nails but I could be wrong. There was as a lot going that afternoon.

Varnish off and ear/body piercings out

If you're having an elective then they ask that you take off finger nail polish as they monitor oxygen levels via a clip. Toe nails probably OK!

It's not a disaster if you forget etc as I'm pretty sure I had some on my fingers when I ended up having an EMCS with DS.

I just know from experience it takes absolutely ages to remove the shellac I have - you have to soak for like 15 mins so I think the midwives will be pretty annoyed at me! 😂
