Has anyone had headaches and migraines whilst being pregnant ? I'm 21+5 and suffering every day , I can't sleep as my head hurts no drugs are making it better and I'm so so fed up, been to the doctors today who basically fobbed me off saying it's a side effect of pregnancy and to deal with it or contact midwife who maybe able to help me. Anyone have any remedies to help ?

Are you sinus-y? Or just headaches/migraines?

I know heat and cold can help, and if sinuses are a problem a saline nasal spray

No sinus issues at all feel perfectly fine other than these headaches which are killing me

I logged on to Mumsnet purely to post a question about headaches so I'm pleased I found you! I am suffering too every day with headaches, they are at the back of my head and I have a searing pain every time I move my head. It's agony. I went to doctor and he too just said it's a pregnancy symptom but my midwife today suggested getting a referral if it doesn't improve. I am 16 weeks. I'm taking dehydration sachets in case it's because I'm being sick every day too but not helping. I feel bad for needing to have paracetamol every day. It's just so horrible that surely it can't be normal Sad

I've spoken to my consultant who just advises painkillers but I'm just so fed up with them now and feel so useless, I've not done a full week in work for 6 weeks due to headaches

I had headaches or migraine constantly from when I conceived to about 22-23 weeks when they suddenly stopped. Not a lot you can do other than rest, fluids and what little painkillers you're allowed. Hope yours clear up soon.

Oh, I also found a cold flannel or ice packs around my face and neck helped a bit.

Try a chiropractor, I see one regularly for headaches - they often have a cause that can be treated.
Mine come from postural and tension issues in my shoulders which is felt as referred pain headache.
I am going to continue to see the chiro in pregnancy.

I'm seeing an Osteopath again as my headaches have flared up again after not having a single one for the first 11 weeks. I also seem to carry tension in my neck and shoulders and even sleeping can cause pain on one side of my head underneath sometimes. Definitely worth looking into.

Hi I am in my first trimester I suffer with migraines / headaches very bad. I was on propanolo 80mg slow release which prevented them a lot for me. I noticed my tablets were not releiveing them as much lately then I found out I was pregnant. My gynecologist advised me to stop taking my propanolo and that I could only take paracetamol as it’s not safe to take during pregnancy. However they told me in the second trimester there is more
Options available as it is more safe. They also told me it was safe to take codine in first trimester but I am going to hold of on the codine for now. As this is hopefully 3rd time lucky as previously had 2 Mc

Hi OP, are you still getting these?

I'm 23+3 and so fed up with the constant dull throb in my forehead and behind my eyes, starting right from the moment I wake up. I've also had a sensitive scalp (you know the kind you sometimes get when you let down a tight ponytail?).

Dr just told me to stop taking paracetamol and said it might simply be 'one of those pregnancy things' Sad

Please do let me know if you find anything that works! Right now I'm trying the salt water nasal spray and sleeping with a tooth guard in (apparently grinding your teeth is a main contributing factor to morning headaches).
