Bicornuate Uterus and ECV

Hi. Any fellow bicornuate uterus owners out there who have had an ECV to turn a breech baby?

I'm 36 weeks and baby still hasn't turned. Interested to know more about other people's experiences.

Thanks.

What is a bicornuate uterus and how did you know you had one? Interested as I had a breech baby first time round and am 31 weeks and know my baby is breech at the moment so getting paranoid history will repeat!

I’m afraid I don’t have a bicornuate uterus, but did have an ECV to try and turn my breech daughter in 2014. It was a bit odd and made me very anxious. They only had a good manipulation and tried to turn her once (no joy) and then monitored me for an hour or so afterwards.
Was booked in for c-section next day, so she was delivered about ten days early.
Due again in April and wouldn’t try an ECV this time if required, it made me pretty anxious and the c-section was great, very calm & no complications.
Best of luck to you Smile

Firsttimer, It's basically heart shaped, so there may not be quite enough room for baby to turn. Google it, its really interesting. I'm trying accupuncture/moxibustion tomorrow. Figured it's worth a go! Smile

I have a bicornate uterus and my son was breech. My consultant told me they don’t try and turn the baby with a bicornate uterus as it can be dangerous. This was 2014 so not sure if guidelines have changed now. He ended up as transverse lie when I went into labour so had to have emcs.

I've got the same and they would not turn the baby as it's dangerous

I was booked in for a c section this was in 2017 and I don't think much has changed. Could be wrong though!

I would have thought I bicornuate uterus would make an ecv much more risky AND less likely to work? ECVs are already low on success rates and come with risks. Have you discussed it with your obstetrician?

I believe baby's are breech for a reason. I'm certainly not trying to shift mine and my uterus is the normal shape.

That's why I'm exploring my options. My midwife is going to get advice from a consultant, but I wanted to know if anyone had anything useful to contribute from their own similar experiences.

There is plenty of research to show that ECVs do work for many people.

Keeping an open mind!

They definitely don’t do it. My consultant said it was very dangerous to try (haemorrhaging) and highly unlikely to work. My baby’s head was ‘stuck’ in one of the horns. They couldn’t have turned him in a month of Sundays!

Hi, I have a bicornuate uterus and I'm going for a growth scan Wednesday I will be 36 weeks last few days ago baby was still breech so if baby is still breech what is it I should expect will it be a C-Section or not ? Thank you I advance 😊
